Summer’s sultry offers the perfect romantic ambiance and there are plenty of ways to enjoy it, COVID restrictions or not.  Here’s our list of happening spots in Montgomery County for summer fun and romance.

Take a Hike

Montgomery County has more than 60 miles of trails traversing flowering meadows, cool flowing creeks and woodland hills. Start with favorites such as Perkiomen Trail 2020 Happening List Winners for Best Scenic View. Get a trail map on the Montgomery County website.

Ride High in the Saddle

Looking for an outdoor daytime option? Go on an adventurous, guided horseback ride through Evansburg State Park with the folks at Red Buffalo Ranch. Choose the lunchtime ride to double date and enjoy a venison chili lunch prepared by the ranch staff.

Visit a Winery

When you’re looking for outdoor adult fun, wineries fit the bill. There’s something special about walking through the grape vines, then tasting the fruits of the vintner’s labor. Many vineyards add spark by offering food pairings or entertainment.

Hint: Country Creek Winery in Telford, Best Winery Winner, hosts outdoor comedy nights and music. Also check out Best Winery Finalists Stone & Key Cellars in Montgomeryville and Cardinal Hollow Winery in North Wales.

Get in the Swing

What’s summer without a round of mini-golf? Check out 2020 Montco Happening List Finalist for Outdoor Recreation, Waltz Golf Farm for sports options that range from two 18-hole, themed mini golf courses, a Par 3 course, driving ranges and 9 batting cages. Top off the evening with a refreshing treat at Bruster’s Real Ice Cream, just down the road.

Listen to Live Music

Put on your dancing shoes and belt out some tunes. Live music is a fun way to add energy to any date night.

Hint: Montco Happening List Finalist for Live Music (and Best Outdoor Dining), Creekside Sports Bar in Limerick offers live music on their patio all summer long. You can also catch free live outdoor performances every Friday night at King of Prussia Town Center.

Sun and Fun Dining

After so many meals at home, just having a night off from kitchen duty is enough to make any couple giddy. If you’re looking to Wow your date with a memorable summertime meal, Montgomery County has a slew of fun restaurants with beach-like settings (think Adirondack chairs and toes in sand) and lots of things to do, from playing corn hole to volleyball.

Hint: Check out Montco Happening List Winner for Best Outdoor Dining Trappe Tavern near Collegeville or the Creekside Sports Bar in Limerick, an outdoor dining finalist. For other top picks, read THIS article about al fresco dining options.

Try a Staycation

A night at a bed and breakfast offers a romantic escape from the daily hustle and bustle without a long drive.

Hint: Joseph Ambler Inn located in North Wales is a multi Happening List Winner receiving the most votes for Hotel as well as Bed & Breakfast, and it’s also a Finalist for Most Romantic.

Drive-In Movie

You won’t be holding hands in a big theater anytime soon, but there are still ways to get cozy and watch a movie on the big screen. Snuggle up in the bed of your truck or in the backseat of your car and enjoy a movie at Shankweiler’s Drive-In Theatre in Orefield.

Take a Stroll

Montgomery County has many charming towns whose roots date before the American Revolution. They’re perfect for leisurely, hand-holding strolls.  People watch or window gaze along the main streets of Ambler, Skippack or Collegeville, all popular favorites for Best Main Street, according to Montgomery Happening List voters.

Make Your Escape

If you’re a couple that loves a challenge, then an escape room offers a great way to get creative and put your puzzle solving skills to the test.

Hint: Escape Rooms such as 2020 Happening List Winner Expedition Escape! in Montgomeryville and King of Prussia and Happening List Finalist Play It Out Escape in Souderton reopened earlier this summer.
