Tree Lightings and Parades

Ambler Holiday Tree Lighting

When: Friday, November 29 from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m.
Where: 131 Rosemary Avenue, Ambler

Join the community in the annual tree lighting on the front lawn at First Presbyterian Church of Ambler. The Wissahickon Middle School choir will be there to sing holiday tunes.

Skippack Village Lighting of the Christmas Tree

When: Friday, November 29 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Where: Floral and Hardy Complex, 4007 Skippack Pike, Skippack

The Village will be aglow with candlelight as it is also the first Illuminaire Night. Luminaries line the sidewalks outside the stores and restaurants to light the way for shoppers and diners and to warmly welcome the start of the holiday season. Tree lighting festivities begin at 6pm in the Floral and Hardy Complex. Don’t miss this annual tradition in Skippack Village!

Royersford Annual Holiday Tree Lighting

When: Friday, November 29 from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
Where: Main Street, Royersford

You don’t want to miss this year’s annual tree lighting! Starting at 6 p.m., head to the municipal lot (where the borough clock is located) for refreshments, crafts and a holiday selfie station. Make some reindeer food and write a letter to Santa to drop in the Santa Mailbox. Be sure to include your address because he writes back!

The Tree Lighting Planning Committee is excited to announce that Philly’s own Thanksgiving Day Parade Santa (America’s Favorite Santa!) will arrive at 7 p.m. for photos. Bring your camera!

Plymouth Meeting Holiday Tree Lighting

When: Wednesday, December 4 at 6 p.m.
Where: Greater Plymouth Community Center, 2910 Jolly Road, Plymouth Meeting

This event will kick off at 6 p.m. at the Service and Devotion Monument located at the corner of Walton Road and Germantown Pike. The evenign will feature a mini concert and complimentary hot chocolate and cookies. Santa and Mrs. Claus will make an appearance so bring your camera!

Annual Phoenixville Holiday Parade & Tree Lighting

When: Friday, December 6 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Where: Main and Bridge Street, Phoenixville

With a Winter Shopping Market in the Main and Bridge Street parking lot from 5-9 p.m., the parade at 7 p.m., and the annual tree lighting ceremony right after the parade (around 8 p.m.), it is bound to be a night full of memories and activities for the whole family!

Upper Merion Township Holiday Village and Tree Lighting

When: Saturday, December 7 from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m.
Where: Upper Merion Township Building, 175 W. Valley Forge Road, King of Prussia

Enjoy an afternoon of festive fun! There will be food, vendors, face painting, balloon animals, live entertainment and more!

Take a tour through historic Pennypacker Mills for an unforgettable Victorian Christmas experience! Using vintage inspired ornaments, the Christmas traditions of the early 1900’s, and how the Pennypackers spent their holiday, the site creates a magical experience for visitors. All tours include a stop at the Museum Shop, which is stocked with unique Victorian inspired ornaments, gift items, books, children’s toys, and holiday sweets. Groups of 10 or more should contact the site to arrange for a group reservation. Closed Mondays & County holidays.

Twelfth Night Tours

The whole family can enjoy learning about how the colonists celebrated the yuletide season through the lively merriment of Twelfth Night. Uncover the origins of many holiday traditions alongside some forgotten favorites on guided tours of Pottsgrove Manor. The entire house will be transformed for the season, sharing the stories of both the endless preparations done by the household staff and the celebrations that the Potts family would have enjoyed. All ages.

Self-guided tours of World Nativities exhibition available daily 12:00 – 4:30 p.m.

Candlelit Tour at Morgan Log House

When: Saturday, December 7 from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Built in the early 1700s, the Morgan Log House is one of the oldest surviving homes in Montgomery County. Visitors have a unique opportunity to learn what winter was like for those in the Morgan Log House and explore the home by candlelight on December 7 while the home is decorated in its finest 18th Century holiday greenery.

Holiday Tours at Historic Hope Lodge

The mansion will be decorated for the holiday season! Join us for a short film and guided tours of the mansion at 11:30 am, 1:00 pm & 2:30 pm. Cookies and hot chocolate included in admission price.

Victorian Christmas Open House

When: Saturday, December 14 from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m.

The mansion comes alive with living historians, Santa himself & a bell choir performing on the porch. Discover holiday traditions that have stood the test of time. See how the Pennypacker family celebrated Christmas and a clear toy candy demonstration in the kitchen. The Museum Shop is stocked with unique, vintage ornaments, gift items, sweets, and toys. Refreshments served.

Illuminaire Nights

These magical evenings find the Village of Skippack aglow with the warm light of candles, hospitality and the sounds of the season. Luminaries line the sidewalks outside the stores and restaurants to light the way for shoppers and diners and to warmly welcome the start of the holiday season.  Many of the shops and restaurants throughout the Village will be offering special treats and refreshment, activities, in store sales and other surprises for shoppers.  The vibe is festive and there are great gifts for the choosing so stop by and make a night of it!

Christmas at Colonial Gardens: Nights of Winter Lights

When: Saturday, November 30 through December 29 on Friday through Sunday, from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
Where: 745 Schuylkill Road, Phoenixville

Colonial Gardens Gift & Floral Shop is a beautiful spot to get into the holiday spirit. Admission includes unlimited walk-through of thousands of brilliant, beautiful dancing lights and familiar characters through the Gardens, a cup of hot chocolate or a candy cane, and ornament decorating for kids. Santa will be there for photos from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. each night. Tickets can be purchased at the store during the event and cost $10 for adults, $8 for kids ages 3 through 11, and kids 2 and under are free.

Narberth Dickens Festival

When: Sunday, December 8 from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m.
Where: 101 Forrest Ave, Narberth, PA 19072

​The Narberth Dickens Festival is a free family event held each December on the streets of downtown Narberth.  It draws thousands to this little borough every year, and it has become the fastest-growing holiday festival in the Philadelphia area.  In this Dickens-themed event, the town of Narberth is transformed into 1840’s London, as Ebenezer Scrooge, Tiny Tim, and all the characters from A Christmas Carol roam the streets for an afternoon. There is entertainment and activities for all ages, including horse-drawn carriage rides, holiday crafts, carolers, period vendors and food, dancers, musicians, ballet performances, puppet shows, magicians, puppeteers, ice sculptors, a free Dickens-themed scavenger hunt for children, and much more. Put on your top hat and join the fun!

Holiday Luminaria

When: Wednesday, December 11 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Where: Lock 60 at Schuylkill Canal Park, 100 Bridge St., Phoenixville, PA 19460

Step back in time to a Dickens’ holiday scene, as you enter the beautifully decorated Locktender’s house and sing along with the joyful music played by local musician(s). Partake in holiday treats and hot cider and join in with the Schuylkill Canal Association and toast each other with best wishes for a safe and happy holiday season.

Cost: A donation of $1 or more will be gladly accepted.

Cairnwood By Candlelight at Cairnwood Estate

When: Thursday, December 12 at 7 p.m.

Explore historic Cairnwood at its most sparkling time of year. Kick off the holiday season with yuletide desserts and refreshments served in candlelight, festive Christmas trees and décor throughout, and a special exhibition, Three Generations of Cairnwood Fashions.

It’s a Wonderful Life – A Live Radio Play

Back to the DCP Stage by popular demand! This heart-warming holiday classic follows George Bailey, who hopes to travel from his hometown, Bedford Falls, and lasso the moon for the lovely Mary Hatch. When George’s plans continue to fail and life’s hardships seem worse than ever, an angel named Clarence comes down to earth to show him that he really does have a “wonderful life”.  Enjoy this story along with your favorite holiday songs and 1940’s commercials.

Christmas Sing Concert at Glencairn Museum

When: Tuesday, December 10 at 8 p.m. (doors open at 7:15 p.m.)

Join us for this year’s “Glencairn Sing,” an annual concert which was first held in the Great Hall in 1937. The Museum proudly continues the Pitcairn’s tradition with a program that features  the “Glencairn Horns,” comprised of current and former members of the Philadelphia Orchestra. The concert will also include Glencairn’s Ensemble in Residence, Les Canards Chantants, soloists, audience caroling, and readings from the Christmas story.

Christmas Pageant at Bryn Athyn Cathedral

When: Sunday, December 15 at 3:30 p.m., 5:15 p.m., 7 p.m. and 8:15 p.m.

Start your Christmas season celebrations with this depiction of the Christmas story, portrayed by actors in costume.  A favorite feature of this popular Pageant is the invitation for attendees to walk through a choir of singing shepherds and angels to visit the manger scene. Live animals on the grounds can be visited between the services.

Mikey the Elf and the Case of the Missing Mistletoe

When: December 17 – December 31

Toyland’s magical mistletoe has been stolen, and a new detective elf is on the case! A crazy robot, zany new inventions, and a daffy penguin are just some of what Mikey will face when Mrs. Claus calls him to the North Pole. But Mikey will need your help to find the mistletoe and save Christmas! Our Annual Holiday Treat for Kids 4 and up!

‘Twas the Night Before Christmas Train

These special evening trains bring the storybook magic of the season to life. Visitors are encouraged to wear their pajamas and sip complimentary hot cocoa as ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas is read. Enjoy Christmas music and the comfort of Edwardian-era cars, look for lights as the Secret Valley rolls past your window. Rumor has it, Santa himself may appear with a gift for every child. Opt to have your photo taken with Santa and it will be printed for you on-board! Approx. 2 hour trip.

Santa’s Polar Bear Express

Join Santa on a magical adventure into Christmas past on one of the most beautiful train journeys in the United States. Sip complimentary hot cocoa or enjoy Christmas cookies and, on some trains, sing favorite carols as the Secret Valley passes by your window. Santa brings a gift for every child, and every child has an opportunity to give their Christmas letter to him (they even provide the crayons!) Wild Lights!

Celebrate the holiday season with the return of Wild Lights to Elmwood Park Zoo! We’re flipping the switch on millions of lights that will shine throughout the zoo’s entire 16 acres.

Take a stroll through Snowflake Central and be dazzled by Rainbow Runway. Catch our giant video show in the giraffe yard, and marvel at the custom decorations in the Wonder Way Christmas Tree exhibit. And of course, be sure to visit Santa’s Workshop for photos with the big man himself. Each night of Wild Lights will feature live entertainment, including unique animal encounters, performances, character appearances, holiday music, and more.

King of Prussia Town Center Winterfest

Mrs. Claus Comes to Town

Holiday Tradition Sensory Friendly Nutcracker

The Lively Arts Series present a special performance of the Nutcracker specifically designed to our sensory friendly audience. A pre-show talk with the audience and interaction with the performers. Philadelphia Dance Theatre presents the holiday favorite The Nutcracker performance. Highlights include the magical Kingdom of the Sweets scene, set to the nostalgic score by Pytor Illyich Tchaikovsky.

Santa Arrives by Train

Join us to welcome Santa by train and then take a walk to the new Borough Hall for milk and cookies while Santa and Mrs. Claus read a story to all the boys and girls.  We hear old Saint Nick will be bringing some special treats!

Holiday Lights

Where: Upper Gwynedd Township Parks and Recreation, 1 Parkside Place, North Wales

Come out to the Township Building for face painting, a gingerbread contest and more. At the Pavilion, there will be horse & carriage rides, games, crafts, food and drinks, and a photo area. Please bring a donation for Toys for Tots.

Reindeer Guide for Kids

When: Tuesday, December 17 at 1 p.m.
Where: Norristown Farm Park, 2500 Upper Farm Road, Norristown, PA 19403

Do you know the difference between reindeer, caribou, elk, and our local white-tailed deer? Find out about reindeer and other animals of the far north. Hear a seasonal story, play reindeer games, and make a reindeer craft. Pre-registration is required; meet in the Salt Wing.

Winter Solstice Norristown Farm Park

When: Sunday, December 15 at 2 p.m.
Where: 2500 Upper Farm Road, Norristown, PA 19403

Soon we will experience the shortest day of the year. Learn about the winter solstice and some of the traditions of other cultures surrounding this special time of the year. Some people celebrate a twelve-day holiday called the Yule. Many modern traditions, such as the Christmas tree, the Christmas wreath, and the Yule log were derived from winter solstice customs. The celebration of the day was interpreted as a reawakening of nature. Children will hear a seasonal story and make a winter solstice craft. Pre-registration is required; meet in the Salt Wing. All ages.

Cost: $5 craft fee for children only

Bring your pooch to Floral & Hardy for a free smooch with Mrs. Claus! Take a memorable picture of Mrs. Claus with your dog and have them enjoy a treat. All well behaved dogs get a coupon for shopping while they visit (one per person). Don’t miss this fun holiday event for our canine friends! Note: this event will be held outside in our tent area so have your dog dress appropriately for the weather.
