The Fourth of July brings parades, picnics, contests and of course, fireworks! Montgomery County has lots of ways to celebrate our nation’s 243rd birthday, so check out these events near you.

Ambler

Kiwanis Carnival and Fireworks

This annual event features a carnival which runs nightly from July 2 through July 6 from 6 to 10 pm nightly. A fireworks spectacular takes place, Friday, July 5 at dusk, with a rain date on Saturday. Conshohocken

This annual community event and fireworks display kicks off the holiday beginning at 6 pm on July 3rd with music, moon bounces and a demo by DeStolfo’s Martial Arts. Fireworks light up the sky at 9:45 pm.

Head back to Fayette St. by 8 am on July 4th for the annual all-American soap box derby. The course will run from 9th to 3rd Avenues on Fayette.

Glenside

Real American Celebration

Head to Glenside for all-day fun in a small town community. The day begins with a Children’s Program from 10 am to 12:30 pm at Harry Renninger Memorial Park. Activities include decorated bike/stroller/float parades, field and sports contests, and free lunchtime refreshments.

Beginning at 4 pm, watch the grand parade, now in its 115th year, travel along the 1.5 mile parade route through Glenside. Then head to the Abington High School complex to round out the day. At 7:45 pm, enjoy the sounds of the U.S. Air Force Heritage of America Band as they perform a pre-fireworks concert. Once it’s dark – the spectacular fireworks display goes off over the Abington High School and Middle School grounds.

Horsham

Remember how these United States of America were first formed during this celebration at historic Graeme Park. Hear the Declaration of Independence read, experience living history demonstrations and view the site’s collection of historic flags. Tours of the Keith house will be given for a reduced admission of $5, children $3.

King of Prussia

Join in the celebration of our nation’s founding with a host of activities from 11 am to 3pm at Valley Forge NHP.  Hear Benjamin Franklin read the Declaration of Independence and sign your name to a copy. Kids will enjoy “enlisting” in the Continental Army as they practice drills and march, dress-up like a colonial, make their own tricorn hat or finger print a flag! Kids can also participate in the Junior Ranger program or learn about the plot to kidnap George Washington.

Many more activities will be available throughout the park to provide the history of the Valley Forge Encampment and our nation’s fight for independence. A food canteen will be available on site. Parking is located throughout the park with shuttle buses provided transportation from inner lots. The event is free to the public.

Be sure to plan for the free, outdoor carillon concert at the Washington Memorial Chapel at 2 pm. The chapel’s carillonneur will perform a variety of patriotic tunes.

Lafayette Hill

Join Whitemarsh Township in their annual 4th of July parade beginning at 10 am. The parade leaves the Barren Hill Fire Company and travels to Miles Park. Enjoy food, drinks, music and more in the park at parade’s end courtesy of the Lions Club of Whitemarsh.

Limerick

This family fun center offers a free firework display every Fourth of July for the community. Visit the food trucks beginning at 5:30 pm and listen to music by Whiskey Grin starting at 7 pm. Fireworks start when it’s dark. Enjoy ½ price mini golf after the fireworks!

Lower Providence Township

Annual concert beginning at 6:30 pm in Eagleville Park on July 4th. Bring your blankets and lawn chairs and enjoy the music. Fireworks begin at dusk. Rain date is Sat., July 6th.

Narberth

North Coventry Township

Annual fire company fair running July 1 to 6th from 6 pm to close each day and opening at 3 pm on Saturday. Fireworks are scheduled for 10:30 pm on Fri., July 5 with a Saturday rain date. Over 20 rides, games and food including lots of seafood options, corn on the cob and a walking taco.

Norristown

Celebrate all day in Norristown with a variety of events. Start with the annual parade at 9:45 am beginning at St. Francis on Marshall Street and ending on Main Street. A community block party, running from 10:30 to 2:30, will feature local vendors, live music, food trucks, and activities for the kids. Then travel to Elmwood Park for an afternoon of music and picnicking while you wait for the fireworks to begin at dusk.

Pottstown

Pottstown is hosting a community holiday celebration at Pottstown Memorial Park on July 4th beginning at 11 am. The festival will feature carnival rides, art and craft vendors and lots of food.

Enjoy short runs on the Colebrookdale Railroad out of Pottstown station during the day at reduced rates. Or avoid the traffic and parking hassles and take the train from Boyertown on the Fireworks Express scheduled to depart at 7 pm with a return trip just after the show! Fireworks are scheduled for 9:15 pm.

Skippack Village

The annual parade begins at 11 am making its way along Skippack Pike, Route 73, through the main village. An afternoon BBQ will heat up at 3 pm at Parc Bistro followed by fireworks at dusk.

Springfield Township
