Holiday decorating, food and packages are all about creativity and fun. If you are looking for unique and fun ways to include your children in the holiday preparations and artistic side of the holidays, check out these craft offerings from some of MontCo’s local businesses.

Michael’s Craft Stores – Clay Pot Elf

Join the elf on the shelf craze and let your kids make a few elves of their own. Drop into any Michael’s craft store on Sat., Dec. 10 from 10am to noon and make a cute elf from miniature clay pots and felt. Drop-in and let your kids create. Parents must remain in the store while their children are crafting. Cost is $2 per project and all the supplies and instructions are provided. The project is designed for children ages 3 and up.

Color Me Mine – Paint with Santa

Create a special holiday memory with your child as they paint a plate with Santa on Dec. 11 from 5:30 – 7:30 pm. The big man in red will join young artists to create a holiday plate that will be ready to use or gift within one week. The event includes a story time, singing, refreshments and a photo op with Santa. Painting with a Twist – Kids’ Art

Painting with a Twist is offering several art instruction projects especially for kids throughout the month of December. Register for a spot to paint a selected piece of art with guided instructions. Titles of paintings include, “Reindeer Games,” “The Little Tree,” “Frosty,” “Neon Christmas Tree,” and “Stocking Time.” Check the website and search for a location near you or a painting you’d like to recreate. Painting with a Twist has five locations throughout the county.

Towne Book Center & Café – Elf Tea with Mrs. Claus

Bring all your little elves to join Mrs. Claus for afternoon tea at the Towne Book Center & Café at 2 pm on Sat. Dec. 10. Mrs. Claus will have a story, craft, games and tea for participants. Reservations are required along with the $25 activity fee paid at time of registration.

Ardmore Public Library – Craft Week

If you’re looking to get out of the house during the kid’s winter break, head to the Ardmore Public Library. The staff will have craft activities set up all week long to keep the holiday fun going. Stop in, create and take home your creations. The activity runs from Dec. 27 – Dec. 31 and is free to the public.
