Long time Montco resident Jane Makransky has spent most of her time working in the legal system as a lawyer in Philadelphia. That is until she received a significant health scare which required her to take an unexpected leave from work. The extra time off gave Jane the ability to focus on her health, while also providing the chance for her creativity to grow. After much deliberation, the local lawyer, wife, and mother decided to get serious about one of her long time hobbies, jewelry design.

Jane’s pieces have now appeared in Bead Trends Magazine and Jewelry Making Daily. Her beach chic necklaces were discovered on Etsy, and were included in celebrity gift baskets that were given out this past summer to moms-to-be Jessica Simpson, Fergie, Kim Kardashian and others. Her jewelry was also included as part of a giveaway in Pregnancy and Newborn Magazine this past November.

If that wasn’t enough positive feedback for the long time lawyer turned jewelry designer, Jane’s leather bracelets were then selected to be included in gift bags at the Oscars in March! Now, Jane is busy as can be creating pieces that are one of a kind and meticulously made. She often incorporates semi precious stones, vintage beads, swarovski crystals and high end materials and components from around the world. They are now sold in a number of Pennsylvania, Delaware and Maryland boutiques.

Most recently, Jane participated in NBC 10’s coverage of the Golden Globes red carpet as a fashion commentator, and will be appearing on our local CBS program, Talk Philly, the week before the Oscars. She is proof that with hard work and determined focus, obstacles can be overcome and success can be achieved at any age, and good style sense is ageless.
