Oliver Wendell Holmes, Jr. observed, “A mind that is stretched by a new experience can never go back to its old dimensions.” The Helping A Needy Kid Society (T.H.A.N.K.S.) agrees, and is committed to making sure children from economically distressed homes get new experiences through participation in extracurricular activities. We have been serving needy kids for over three years, and invite you to help our children by playing, sponsoring or participating in our vendor park at the First Annual T.H.A.N.K.S. 3v3 Basketball Tournament being held at SMG Sportsplex in Warminster on June 25, 2017 from 10-7. Our tournament will feature a presentation from NBA Star Bo Kimble.

Did you know on an average day, in the United States, 30 million children receive a low cost or free lunch? If a family cannot afford food, it is highly unlikely their children have access to activities like music, sports, and social clubs. The costs for uniforms, lessons, equipment, and miscellaneous fees make it impossible. Researchers tell us that these activities develop everything from coordination and fine motor skills to social and emotional wellbeing.

Our tournament is expected to draw 350 prepared to compete, cheer, and celebrate in one of the world’s fastest growing sport activities while raising an expected $25,000. These funds will allow us to help many more needy kids benefit from new experiences.
