Hatfield Township’s Fire & Ice Festival on Sat. Jan. 20 is an annual fundraiser and celebration that fully embraces the cold weather of winter. A full line up of activities is planned from 2-5 pm including Sharky’s Shivering Slides Polar Plunge event, a cook-off, ice sculptures and a bonfire to keep warm.
Held at the Hatfield Aquatic Center, located at 2500 Chestnut St. in Hatfield, participants can take the plunge into the icy pool waters and raise funds for local charities. The registration fee to participate is $25 and includes a Hatfield commemorative tumbler and a hot cup of soup. Proceeds are donated directly to local charities. A prize will be awarded for the best costumed participant and organizations are encouraged to challenge other local businesses for the largest number of plunge participants.
Another feature of the event is a “chilly” and soup cook-off. Event go-ers can sample chili and soup entries throughout the afternoon and vote for their favorite dishes in each category. Winners will receive a gift basket and victory trophy. Contest rules and registration for participation can be made by clicking here. There is no entry fee.
Enjoy the amazing work of local professional ice sculptors, savor the fare from a variety of food trucks, and let the kids enjoy the variety of games provided. A great community event to benefit local causes.
