Mainland Grille is serving a Thanksgiving feast from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for $19.99 for adults and $11.95 for kids 4-12. The menu features roasted turkey, roasted ham with mustard sauce, green bean casserole, harvest corn, stuffing and buttermilk mashed potatoes. Enjoy apple, pumpkin and cherry pie or double chocolate brownies for dessert.

Blue Bell Inn

The Capital Grille is offering a traditional Thanksgiving dinner with slow-roasted turkey, stuffing, green beans, mashed potatoes and cranberry chutney. The meal is $42 per person or $15 for children. The full a la carte dinner menu is also available.

Enjoy a farm fresh bird this year by ordering from one of Montgomery County’s local farms. Orders must be placed in advance and some require a deposit. Check below for a farm near you.

Merrymead Farm

Merrymead sells turkeys from Weaver’s Turkey Farm in Lancaster. These birds are all natural turkeys- never frozen, with no growth hormones or artificial ingredients. Birds are available from 10 to 32 lbs. ($3.69 per pound) and turkey breasts 6 to 10 lbs. Call the farm to place your order by Wed. Nov. 14th. Merrymead will accept orders for freshly baked pies as well.

Quarry Hill Farms organically raises their own birds to be soy-free and pastured. This year they are offering two breeds of turkeys. Both are $8 per pound. The Standard Bronze has a traditional round shape and is a variety that originated by breeding native wild eastern turkeys with domesticated birds brought from Europe by the early settlers. The Bourbon Red is the result of combining three breeds. It is shaped like a wild turkey and is enjoyed for its dark meat. Place your order online at this link. A deposit is required.

Deep Roots Valley Farm

Deep Roots Valley Farm, just north of Reading, PA, will deliver their pasture raised turkeys to the Phoenixville Farmers Market for pickup on Sat. Nov 17 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. They can also be picked up at the farm on Tuesday, November 20 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. The farm is raising broad breasted whites this year. The birds are fed locally grown whole grain non gmo seed and are provided with a fresh supply of bugs and greens. They are antibiotic free. Orders must be placed in advance, and a $25 deposit is required.

DIY Thanksgiving Centerpieces

Create a beautiful centerpiece for your Thanksgiving table with colorful leaves, acorns and other nuts, grasses, field-dried wild flowers, berries and more. Bring your own clippers and container (opaque vase or a basket with a liner.) Pre-registration is required. This workshop is open to adults and children over 14. The cost is $5 per person. Giving Thanks, a Native American Message

Children ages 3 and up (with an adult’s supervision) are invited to this Thanksgiving-themed program focusing on an appreciation for Mother Earth and the interconnections between all living things. Listen to a Native American story and learn about how they lived and what the first Thanksgiving feast might have been like. Children will also create a craft. Pre-registration is required for this $5 event. Meet in the Salt Wing.

Try winning your Thanksgiving bird this year by participating in this annual pre-holiday run. The 5K run delivers a free turkey prize to the top male and female runners. Medals are awarded to the top three runners in each age category. All runners will receive a long-sleeve t-shirt. The run begins at 9 a.m. There is no walk-up registration, so sign-up online at this link. Registration is $30. Sign-up closes on November 11th or at 800 runners. A free kid’s fun run for children 10 and under starts at 8 a.m. but no registration is required for them. Strollers and pets are welcome.

Abington YMCA Gobble Wobble 5K

Join the Abington YMCA as they celebrate their 16th year of this turkey-day tradition. The 5K course winds through residential areas with rolling hills and finishes Olympic style on a beautiful new track. A two-mile walk features relatively flat terrain. Everyone is invited to participate. The race begins at 9 a.m. All proceeds benefit the Y’s Financial Assistance program. Registration fees are $30 for adult runners, $28 for adult walkers adn $15 for children 12 and under. There is also a new free kids race for children 6 and under. Get more information and register online by November 18th, or register in person at the Y Tuesday or Wednesday, November 20 and 21 from 9 a.m. to 7:45 p.m. You can also register on Race Day from 7:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m.

North Wales Turkey Trot

The whole family can participate in this run with lots of options: an 8K, 5K, Kids ½ Mile Fun Run and a 2 mile walk. These runs/walk all begin at the corner of the 463 and 202 Parkways and continue down the scenic 202 parkway which will be completely closed to vehicles. The event is chip timed and awards are given in five year age increments. Bib pickup will be held at the Joseph Ambler Inn with the first race taking off at 8 a.m. Registration is $55 for the 8K and 5K, $22 for the Kids Fun Run and 2-mile walk. A portion of proceeds from the event will benefit Ainsley’s Angels and The Wissahickon Water Shed Association. Toss Your Turkey 5K

Get a full early morning workout  with this race by participating in the 8th Annual Toss Your Turkey 5K. One male and female participant who tosses a frozen turkey the farthest before the race and completes the course in under 30:00 (male) and 35:00 (female) will win a free pair of Saucony running shoes! This 5K, flat course begins at the River Front Park and ends at the Pottstown Campus of Montgomery County Community College. Also available is a 1 mile Kids’ Fun Run. A portion of the proceeds from the race will benefit a local homeless shelter. Register online by November 18 at this link. The race fee is $25 and the sign-up fee is $2.50.
