What do clowns, Wurlitzer organs, The Simpsons, antiques cars, china dolls and animated store window displays all have in common? You can see them all under one very large roof at The American Treasure Tour in Oaks, PA. Located in a former tire warehouse, the eclectic display features tens of thousands of pieces, all gathered, restored and displayed by a single private owner. Whether it’s a trip down memory lane or a chance to see collectibles, antiques or just plain kitsch from your grandparents’ day, this tour is sure to please.
The main part of the tour takes place in the Toy Box and features antique cars sure to please any car enthusiast. Other collections include china dolls, store displays and signs, model airplanes, movie posters and records, patriotic items, life-size figurines and a 20’ high-heeled shoe. A second highlight of the museum is the large collection of musical items. Player pianos, Wurlitzer organs, nickelodeons, band organs and music boxes fill one large room and can be heard playing their unique sounds and music from a past era.
Getting around the facility is made easy with a tram ride tour experience. A knowledgeable tour guide explains many of the unique items and answers questions during stops along the way. General admission tours are available every Saturday from 9am to 3 pm. Visitors can make reservations for larger group and custom tours during the week by calling the museum at 866-970-8687. The museum also offers tours to scout groups and schools, tailoring their programs toward music and social history education.
