The Montgomery County music scene has erupted with a wealth of young, highly talented local musicians in recent years. At just 16 years old, Blue Bell’s own Ben Kessler is just one of those musicians. The local singer, songwriter and performer has already played widely throughout the Philadelphia area. In the past year alone, he has had the opportunity to jam out at the Philadelphia Folk Festival, Bethlehem Musikfest and Wawa’s 4th of July Festival just to name a few. Despite his young age, Ben has made frequent appearances at World Café Live, Tin Angel, Hard Rock Café, and can be heard regularly on WXPN. The local performer was also one of the winners of the 2014 Philadelphia Songwriters Project’s annual songwriting contest. Montco Happening is proud to put the spotlight on one of the most talented musicians that our county has to offer, Ben Kessler!

Ben’s love of music was developed at just 5 years old when he stumbled upon his Father’s old guitar. Since that discovery, he has never ceased in his pursuit of perfecting the instrument. To further expand his musical portfolio, Ben picked up singing in addition to the bass guitar, keyboard, clarinet, saxophone and percussion. He has also been a student at the Settlement Music School, Fort Washington’s School of Rock, and attended a Music Industry Program through NYU’s prestigious Tisch School of Arts in the Summer of 2012. All of the training and school have helped this young man refine his natural music ability over the years.

On January 11th, Ben will be having a full-band CD release show for the EP at World Café Live in Philly. Ben’s accomplished guitar playing and musicianship have distinguished him as a serious musician in our area. His instrumental abilities are a testament to that fact, and his voice has already matured far beyond his age. We can’t wait to see what 2015′ has in store for this already popular young performer and we know you will enjoy his music as much as we did.
