Christmas Village in Philadelphia Grand Opening Ceremony
Nov 25 @ 3:00 pm – 5:00 pm

Christmas Village in Philadelphia (Love Park, 1500 JFK Blvd.) presents its Grand Opening Ceremony on Sunday, November 25, 2018 from 3:00pm to 5:00pm. Invite your family and friends to come sing along to holiday selections by the Camden Catholic High School Band and Clearview Regional High School Choir. Meet the original Christkind from Nuremberg after she officially opens the market by reciting her traditional prologue. Take photos with her as she does her traditional walk of the market. In Germany, she is the person that brings the Christmas gifts to the kids, and she won’t be coming to the City of Brotherly Love empty handed! Christmas Village’s Grand Opening Ceremony is free and open to all. For more information, visit www.philachristmas.com.

Plymouth Township Holiday Tree Lighting
Nov 28 @ 6:00 pm – 7:00 pm

Plymouth Township’s parks and recreation department invites the community to bring plenty of holiday cheer to the township’s second annual holiday tree lighting on Nov. 28.

Township Manager Karen Weiss said smiles (and cameras) come in handy in creating a “human snow globe” with the giant inflatable snow globe that’s a new addition for this year’s event. Santa and Mrs. Claus will also be on hand to help spread holiday cheer.

A mini concert will be provided by two local school bands and choirs. Entertainment, as well as hot chocolate and cookies, will be offered free of charge.

The first annual event in 2017 drew more than 500 people, according to Parks and Recreation Assistant Director Philip Brady Jr.

If you go

Plymouth Township’s second annual holiday tree lighting will be held on Nov. 28 at 6 p.m. at the Service and Devotion monument, which is located at the corner of Walton Road and Germantown Pike in Plymouth Meeting. In the event of rain, the tree lighting will be held on Nov. 29.

Victorian Christmas Open House
Dec 8 @ 2:00 pm – 8:00 pm

There is nothing quite as Victorian as visiting Pennypacker Mills’ Christmas Open House. With an entertaining bell choir playing Christmas music, a Victorian Santa Claus welcoming families, and living historians inside the mansion portraying family and friends, this one day gives visitors a glimpse of Christmastime in the early 1900’s. With greens on every mantle, silky ribbon strewing throughout, shiny glass and tin ornaments to add shine to the tree, and plainly wrapped presents beneath, visitors will be treated to a special experience at each room. In the kitchen, see a clear toy candy demonstration with three-dimensional clear candies. The Museum Shop, which is stocked with unique Victorian inspired ornaments, gift items, books, children’s toys, and holiday sweets.

All ages; free, suggested donation $2 per person.

Pennypacker Mills is the home of Pennsylvania Governor Samuel W. Pennypacker (1903-1907) and his family.
