The Birds are coming off of their Bye Week and the Cowboys just got done stomping out the winless Rams (yes, that’s not saying much). So, with all of the expectations heaped on the ‘Dream Team’, is it time for them to make a statement to the NFC East and the rest of the NFL? If the answer is ‘Yes’, then this is just the week to do it. The Cowboys are starting become the bandwagon pick by NFL Analysts to win the NFC East, but if the Philadelphia Eagles can beat the Cowboys on National Television this coming Sunday night, that tune will surely change.
2010 Eagles vs. Cowboys Results
Last season the Eagles and Cowboys split games. The Eagles won the first game 30-27. It was a really close game, but the Eagles ended up taking it by a field goal. The Eagles weren’t as fortunate in the second game they played against the Dallas Cowboys. It was the last game of the season and the Cowboys ended up winning 14-13. This rivalry almost always leads to close games and this upcoming game will probably be no different.
What to Expect from the Philadelphia Eagles vs. Dallas Cowboys
With the Eagles coming off of a Bye it’s likely that they will be well rested, especially Mike Vick, who has to be towards the top of the list of most hit quarterbacks this season. Dallas is coming off of an impressive win against the St. Louis Rams, but as Pacman Jones once said, “it’s the Rams dude”. With both teams looking to move up in the division, here’s what we might see this Sunday night.
When the Eagles Have the Football
In order to avoid the Cowboys pass rush, look for the Eagles to take advantage of some screen passes to Shady McCoy. Look for Michael Vick to try to exploit the Cowboys secondary, which is one of the weaker parts of a very good Dallas Cowboys defense. When the Eagles are playing there is always a good chance for a trick play or two. I think with an extra week of preparation we should definitely expect Andy Reid to have something up his sleeve.
When the Cowboys Have the Football
For the first 5 games that the Cowboys played, their running game was almost non-existent. Last week against the worst rushing defense in the league, the Cowboys found a ground game. Cowboys rookie DeMarco Murray ran for a Dallas Cowboys record, 253 yards. Look for Dallas to try to keep Michael Vick and the high-powered Eagles offense off of the field by running the ball early and often. Tony Romo and Jason Garrett will use the run to setup the pass and Jason Witten will probably play a big role in the passing game. Also, Dez Bryant will definitely be involved in the passing game, as he’s one of the best young receivers in the game.
Montco Happening Prediction for Eagles vs. Cowboys
Since I’m (Ryan) writing this and not Andrew, and I’m a Cowboys fan living in Philadelphia, I’m going to say we should expect a 24-16 Dallas Cowboys victory. Dallas’s defense is just too much for Michael Vick to overcome and with the resurgence of the Cowboys run game, Tony Romo doesn’t feel all of the pressure, thus doesn’t make the critical mistake. Dallas moves to 4-3 with the self-appointed ‘Dream Team’ falling to 2-5.
