Summer has finally arrived in Montgomery County, so go out and enjoy it! Take in the warm weather and summertime smells all while enjoying some family time at these upcoming Montgomery County events.

1.) John James Audubon Center at Mill Grove

Meet the Owls
The John James Audubon Center is one of our favorite spots to enjoy nature in Montgomery County. The grounds are host to an enormous amount of wildlife which include a wide array of bird species. JJAC is also a refuge for non-releasble owls which are protected residents all year round.

Canoe the Perkiomen
Take a guided canoe tour of the Perkiomen Creek with a JJAC educator! View birds as they feed along the creek, explore the world of macro invertebrates, and hopefully catch a glimpse of an elusive muskrat! PFDs, canoes, and oars provided. All participants are required to wear a PFD. Registration is required. For groups of 10 or more, private canoe tours can be booked for any time throughout the week.

2.) Amazing Adventures Happening at Elmwood Park Zoo
Zip the Zoo
Treetop Adventures at Elmwood Park Zoo features over 70 challenge games and zip lines that tower above the ground, through the trees, and even over animal exhibits! Click here to reserve online or call 610.277.3827 to make your reservation! Hours are 10am-4:30pm daily and by reservation.

Treetop Adventures
With both children and adult courses to choose from, every thrill-seeker has an adventure suited just for them. This course features over 20 games and 2 zip lines suitable for children 36″ to 60″ tall. Elmwood Park Zoo’s second level course includes 45 games and 9 zip lines that take guests high above the Zoo and over 2 animal exhibits. Suitable for anyone over 54″ tall. Perfect for those on the go or anyone who’d like to test out Treetop Zoofari! Help Welcome Home Elmwood’s Most Beloved Residents!
Help the team at Elmwood Park Zoo welcome home their tallest, and most beloved residents as they make the return home! The giraffe will now be permanent members of the EPZ family and are coming home to a celebration in their honor! Join in on the festivities and help bring a warm welcome home to the giraffe on Saturday, May 28th, and Sunday, May 29th, from 1 to 3pm!

Beast of a Feast Fundraiser at Elmwood Park Zoo
EPZ’s annual fundraiser will offer guests an exclusive first look at the construction that will soon be their brand new exhibit, “Trail of the Jaguar!” Be one of the first to take a “hard-hat” tour of the construction site all while sampling hundreds of ferocious flavors courtesy of Montgomery County’s finest restaurants. Beast of a Feast will be a night to remember (and to brag about) for years!

3.) Narberth Dog Parade

Narberth’s First Friday has a special twist every June, and it involves all of our residents both two and four legged! On June 3rd from 6-8pm, the Narberth Business Association will hosts its 9th annual NarBark Dog Parade! Come to downtown Narberth for music, food, and fun, and don’t forget to bring your pups! Guests are encouraged to dress their dogs in parade costume, and compete in one of several categories. Register on site from 6:00 – 6:30pm. Registration is free, but feel free to donate to the local animal rescues in attendance. Great prizes will be given out for winning costumes.

4.) Green Lane Park
Paddleboards, canoes, boats with electric motors, and paddleboats are now available to rent and enjoy at Green Lane Park through Green Lane Boat Rentals, Inc.! Lake tours began Memorial Day weekend, offering our local residents and park enthusiasts the chance to enjoy a one-hour scenic cruise on the beautiful Green Lane Reservoir aboard a 12-passenger pontoon boat. The guided tour will take passengers around the 800 acre lake while offering insight on the interesting history of the lake and dam, as well as covering several nature related topics.

Reservations are not accepted for boat rentals. All watercraft are rented on a first come, first serve basis. The boat rental office is located at 2821 Hill Road, Green Lane, PA 18054.

5.) Normandy Farm’s Summer Clam Bake
Normandy Farm’s is digging headfirst into summer with their annual Clam Bake! With an amazing array of food and craft beer available, the Summer Clam Bake will cover just about every taste available thanks to their mouth watering menu. Jersey-based Flying Fish Brewing Company is also providing seasonal bottomless brews for this come one, come all event.

Guests can expect to begin at the raw bar which will be stocked full of oysters and chilled shrimp. Gulp deep bowls of chunk-lobster corn chowder and devour plates of clams and mussels steamed in herbs and swimming in broth. Normandy Farm’s inclusive entree list includes broiled cod with tomato coulis, succulent pulled pork, lemon pepper grilled Lancaster chicken and garlic and fresh herbed linguini. Throw a few of their summer sides on that plate with everyone’s favorite corn on the cob, red bliss tomato stew, baked beans and a mile-long list of creative salads. If that wasn’t enough to get your summer vibes flowing, the annual event will include live hip-swingin’ music from reggae-calypso band Trinidelphia!

6.) The Garden Railway at Morris Arboretum
All aboard! Join the staff and volunteers of the Morris Arboretum for the Summer Season Grand Opening of the Garden Railway on Saturday, May 28th! Bring the kids out for a fun filled day featuring trains, nature, and lots of kid friendly activities! Grand Opening events will take place from 1-3pm. Guests are invited to take part in creating a kids craft while enjoying free ice cream as you stroll through the scenic ground of the Arboretum.

7.) Valley Forge Historic National Parkvf
Calling all birders, history buffs, walkers, and hikers! Valley Forge is celebrating National Trails Day on Saturday, June 4th, and they want to see you there! There will be various guided hikes throughout the morning: an early morning bird walk, guided Ranger-led walks, and a couple of hiking sessions with REI staff! After your hike you can explore the expo with over 15 outdoor and environmental organizations. There’s nothing quite like farm fresh food, especially when you’re the one picking it! Now in season, Maple Acres Farm would like to invite all our residents to come pick their own strawberries to take home and enjoy with the family!

Strawberries are only the beginning though. Maple Acres Farms offers an unbelievable variety of flowers, fruits, vegetables, and farm animals for the little one’s to meet! Located in Plymouth Meeting, this family owned and operated farm is one of our favorite local farms to visit in Montgomery County.l

9.) Lansdale Day 

lansdaleThe Rotary Club of North Penn is preparing to host their annual outdoor Lansdale Day celebration on Main Street, downtown Lansdale, PA. This community event will be held on Saturday, June 4, 2016 at 10am.

The main attractions for this wonderful event include: an Arts & Crafts Festival, a Community Marketplace, and lots of delectable food, live music, entertainment, kids activities, games and so much more! With attendance in the thousands each year, this is truly one day that you will want to help be a part of. The proceeds from this successful event are donated to local charities in the North Penn community.

10.) Skippack Village Carnival

Visitors to the Skippack Village Carnival will rides, entertainment, games, and a ton of family fun! After you and your family take in and enjoy all the carnival amusements, you can stroll through the village for ice cream, hot food, and great gifts from Skippack’s unique store fronts.
