National Fastnacht Day is almost here, and no one is celebrating this day of hole-less donuts quite like Lochel’s Bakery in Hatboro. For those unfamiliar with this national holiday, the history is easy to digest. Fastnacht Day is an old world, German born holiday that was created as a way to empty the pantry of lard, 
sugar, fat, and butter….all the good stuff! These ingredients were traditionally fasted from during Lent, the Wednesday after Fastnacht Day. The Pennsylvania Dutch even celebrate this holiday like it’s Fat Tuesday or Mardi Gras. Tuesday, February 12th is the day to cut loose and enjoy as many cream, chocolate and jelly filled donuts as you can handle. Lochel’s Bakery and Montco Happening are here to help all of you do just that!
