The Montgomery County Office of Drug and Alcohol is hosting its first Annual Lights of Hope community recovery event to remember loved ones lost to addiction and celebrate those in recovery. This luminaria event provides the opportunity to raise awareness about prevention, treatment, case management, and recovery support services in the area. There will be food and music, followed by guest speakers before a luminaria ceremony.

WHAT: The guest speaker at this event is Vance Johnson, a former NFL wide receiver for the Denver Broncos. He will be addressing the highs and lows he experienced battling addiction during and after the NFL, how the church and his faith aided in his recovery, and how he now dedicates his life to helping others find the treatment resources and support they need to begin their road to recovery.
WHEN: Thursday, Sept. 7—Registration, music, and food starting at 6 p.m.; Speakers at 7:30 p.m., Luminaria ceremony at 8 p.m.
