Long summer days mean lots of time to get out with the one you love and enjoy all that MontCo has to offer. Need some new date ideas? Check out our list of happening spots for summer fun and romance.
A great place to start is with the 2019 Happening List Winner for Best Date Night – Painting with a Twist. Select a piece of artwork to paint, bring a bottle of your favorite beverage, and enjoy a creative learning experience together. You’ll paint a beautiful piece of artwork that can be hung as two separate paintings or combined and displayed as one. Several locations throughout the county in Skippack, Wayne, Jenkintown and Havertown provide lots of options for choosing a painting theme.
Enjoy Outdoor Recreation
Almost nothing says summer date like a night of mini-golf. Check out MontCo Happening List Winner for Outdoor Recreation, Waltz Golf Farm for a range of sporting options. Choose from two 18-hole, themed mini golf courses, a Par 3 course, driving ranges and 9 batting cages. Top off the evening with a refreshing treat at Bruster’s Real Ice Cream, just down the road.
Looking for an outdoor daytime option? Go on an adventurous, guided horseback ride through Evansburg State Park with the folks at Red Buffalo Ranch. Choose the lunchtime ride to double date and enjoy a venison chili lunch prepared by the ranch staff.
Take a Hike
Montgomery County has over 60 miles of trails traversing flowering meadows, cool flowing creeks and woodland hills. Start with favorites like the Perkiomen Trail or Green Lane Park, both 2019 Happening List winners for best Scenic View and best Nature Spot. Get a trail map on the Montgomery County website. Also check out the state parks’ website for info on Ft. Washington State Park and Evansburg State Park hiking.
Double Dates for Several Couples
If you want to go out with several friends, why not try an escape room experience. See just how smart your partner can be as you test your wits to solve the puzzles and challenges in one of MontCos many escape room venues. For starters, try Expedition Escape! In Montgomeryville and King of Prussia, the Happening List Amusement Winners for 2019. Already cracked the codes there? Visit our finalists, Play It Out Escape in Souderton or Escape Room Mystery in KoP.
Romantic Dinner Experiences
If you’re looking to Wow with an unusual dinner experience, try dining while taking a ride through northern Montgomery County’s Secret Valley on the Colebrookdale Railroad. Many excursions include dining options like a mimosa brunch, farm to table and vegan dinners, and even an ice cream sundae run!
Dine under the stars or at least under a string of fairy lights on one of many outdoor dining spots in the region. Great food and drink, live music and even gaming entertainment await (can you say corn hole competition?) at the Creekside Sports Bar in Limerick or the Trappe Tavern near Collegeville. For other top picks see our Summer Outdoor Dining Guide.
Enjoy a Show
Sit back and relax – take in a show at one of the area’s many local theaters. The Steel River Playhouse in Pottstown, DCP Theatre in Telford and Act II Playhouse in Ambler always have something on stage. Prefer music? Catch a show at the Keswick Theater in Glenside.
