When you cross a hot local arts scene with the migratory patterns of fish you get the Shad Fest of Lambertville. The Fest, now in its 37th year, has grown from a celebration of the fruits of the river and arts into one of the largest spring festivals in the Garden State.
The Delaware River will be the backdrop for the event and fundraiser on April 28 and 29 this year. It’s going to be stuffed to the gills with food, arts, and plenty of fish. Each day will feature live music and the work of more than 80 artists. Items for sale and viewing include jewelry, paintings, ceramics, furniture, apparel, accessories, home décor and more.
There will also be posters on display throughout the festival, created by local artists. The posters will go up for auction as a fundraiser on April 29, The proceeds from the event will help fund scholarships for local art students.
The food court is another artisanal mecca which will, of course, be serving shad heavy dishes like shad chowder and shad fritters. There will be a little something for everybody as it will also feature traditional festival favorites like hot dogs, fried Oreos, hamburgers, fries and fresh lemonade. Wild Bill’s Olde Fashion Sodas will be up for grabs, and ice cream too.
