Montgomery County Public Library System really brings their A-game when it comes to service. Reading is something that should be enjoyed by everyone, and MCPL goes above and beyond to make sure that happens. Check out all that is offered…
No need to spend your day driving all over Montco in search of that book you need for the next school project. MCLINC (Montgomery County Library and Information Network Consortium) provides an online catalog search though out all of the 30 libraries in the system. With MCLINC you can conveniently reserve a book from any location and have it sent to your home library for pickup, usually within a few days.
MCPL are also a great place to connect with your community by taking advantage of the many opportunities for learning designed with both children and adults in mind. Children will love the summer reading log contests, story times and special program held throughout the year. Adults can join with like-minded individuals to learn a new skill or attend a lecture. Anything from learning to knit or develop computer skills, perform Tai Chi, participate in a writing group or join a book club. Each library runs their own monthly events, but a complete event listing across the consortium is available by clicking here.
Home Restricted Services
Sadly, some of our Montco neighbors have disabilities that prevent them from leaving their homes. Whether the situation is short or long term, MCPL offer a Book-by-Mail program, allowing homebound residents the opportunity to get lost in a good book. Generously there is no limit on the number of books ordered, and most books can be kept for an entire month. Best of all, MCPL covers the return postage as well!
Talk about community outreach, MCPL has 4 totally awesome bookmobiles! The fleet services a variety of locals, going into areas of the county that do not have a library branch location, making bi-monthly visits to preschool age children, as well as reaching out to our aging population at supervised living facilities across the county.
So get to reading, the Montgomery Public Library System leaves us no excuse not to!
