One of summer’s many pleasures is enjoying a refreshing ice cream cone, creamy and flavorful. And as if you really needed another excuse, Pennsylvania now has an official Ice Cream Trail! Now you can eat your fill of this summertime staple, support local dairy farms and win prizes. Proudly, Montgomery County features two creameries on the trail, already local favorites.
The Pennsylvania Pursue Your Scoops Ice Cream Trail was created to encourage residents and visitors to support dairy farms and enjoy the farm to cone experience. A joint venture of the PA Tourism office, the Department of Agriculture and PA Preferred, the trail includes 12 dairy farms spread over seven counties. In addition to our area farms, several other stops are within in an hour’s drive in nearby Berks, Lehigh and Chester counties.
Why drive up to an hour for a few scoops of ice cream? It’s all about the Pursue Your Scoops prize incentives offered as part of the trail launch. Ice cream adventurers can download a Pursue Your Scoops Passport, available by clicking here or visiting the VisitPA website at https://visitpa.com/scoops. Visit a creamery and have them stamp your passport to verify your visit. Collect six stamps and win a #PursueYourScoops T-shirt. Visit all 12 farms and you will win a #PursueYourScoops Ice Cream Scooper in addition to the T-Shirt.
Make it an adventure and visit some of PA’s great day-trip spots located near the creameries. For example, Crystal Spring Farm in Schnecksville is located near the Lehigh Valley Zoo. Way-Har Farms in Bernville is located near Blue Marsh Lake. Lancaster County spots will also provide plenty of opportunities for adventure followed by a refreshing cone.
