Independence Day Celebration – Fireworks Spectacular
July 4, 2017

Annual Independence Eve Concert
July 3, 2017 7:00pm to 9:00pm
Christ UCC Church – West Marshall and Noble Street Norristown, PA

Come enjoy the music of the Song Sheets (Plus).Music will include folk songs, early American, multi-cultural, inspirational and patriotic selections. Bring a chair. Park on the surrounding streets. Hotdogs, snacks and homemade goodies. Donations accepted to benefit the church’s youth programs. In the event of rain, the concert will be inside the church.

4th of July Parade and Festivities

Celebrate our nation’s independence with artillery demonstrations, historical games, an All-American cook-out, music, and more! Meet one of the founding fathers and sign the Declaration of Independence. Learn about the meaning of the American Flag and the pivotal role the Valley Forge encampment played in securing our freedom from Great Britain.

SO much to do!  Dress-up like a colonial, make your own tricorn hat, win a prize at the Healthy Park’s Duck Pond, make your own finger print flag, crack the Liberty Bell, dunk the tax collector, sign your name to the Declaration of Independence, and so much more!  All activities are free!

Black Powder Demonstration
Muhlenberg Brigade Huts | 11:30, 1:30 and 3:30

After you’ve visited with the “soldiers” at the Muhlenberg Huts, witness black powder demonstrations!

Readings of the Declaration of Independence
Visitor Center Lawn | 11:30, 12:30 and 1:30

Join Benjamin Franklin as he recites the Declaration of Independence and sign your “John Hancock” to the bottom of our copy.

Join the Continental Army
Mini Parade  | 11:45, 12:45 and 1:45

Kids can “enlist” in the Continental Army and learn to march and drill like a Continental Soldier.

Ranger-led Walks
10:50 and 2:50

Join a Valley Forge National Park Service Ranger for a short walk up to the Muhlenberg Brigade Huts. Witness soldier life demonstrations and have the opportunity to ask the “soldiers” about life at Valley Forge during the 1777-1778 winter encampment.

Trolley Tours
Visitor Center | 10:00, 12:00, 2:00 and 4:00

90-minute guided tour makes extended stops at the Muhlenberg Brigade huts and Washington’s Headquarters. Buy your tickets inside the Visitor Center.

Storytelling Benches
Ongoing stories from 11:00 – 4:00

Listen as Once Upon A Nation storytellers share riveting stories of the Valley Forge encampment and how it became a turning point in the Revolutionary War. Benches are located on the Train Station platform at Washington’s Headquarters, in front of the Visitor Center, and near the Muhlenberg Brigade Huts.

American Treasure Tour
Meeting Room | 11:00 – 3:00

Discover sights and sounds from America’s past!  The American Treasure Tour, located in Oaks, PA, showcases pieces from one of the largest collections of Americana in the United States.

4th of July Celebration

A Day of Fun, Friends, and Fireworks! The day’s festivities begin at 3:00 PM with a carnival brimming with great rides, food, games, and more! Enjoy the new Rock Bottom Beer Garden!

Mango Men Concert – Free at 5PM

The Mango Men, the winners of Kenny Chesney’s “Next Big Star” competition, entertain all audiences from kids to seniors – their summer vibe will delight you!

During the Concert, enjoy Food Samples served up by our local Outback Steakhouse and Bonefish Grill Restaurants.

FIREWORKS at Dusk

At Dusk, be prepared to be wowed with Upper Merion Township’s famous fireworks display – the best in the area – seen and heard from miles around. Bring your blanket and beach chairs!
