If what writer James Laube is often quoted as saying is true, the new wine bar at Towne Book Center Wine Bar and Café is assured success.  The noted wine expert has said, “Great wines are like great books. Once you take your first ‘sip,’ they’re hard to put down, “and it is just that combination of wine and books that the Collegeville, PA bookstore is serving up. Proud to be the first and only bookstore in Pennsylvania with a wine bar, the establishment will be featuring wines from Crossing Vineyards located in Washington Crossing, PA.

To celebrate the opening, a special tasting event is being held on Sat., March 4 between 5-8 pm. Tastings will take place in 15-20 minute intervals and will include a free taste of 5 different wines. An RSVP is requested and can be made by calling the store at 610-454-0640. Additionally, special offers are available all this week until the 4th. Bottles of wine purchased for takeout will receive 15% off the retail price and bottles purchased with a book, will receive a total of 25% off.

Towne Book Center originally opened its Café six years ago and found great success by allowing customers to enjoy a warm beverage while reading their recent purchases or enjoying a book discussion at one of its several book clubs that meet regularly in the store. But according to Café and Wine Bar manager Ellen Dahill-Brown, “we were looking for something to make us distinctive.” The answer was to work in partnership with Crossing Vineyards, one of Pennsylvania’s own wine producing establishments located in nearby Bucks County. The Café and Wine Bar has also begun to work with Bridge Street Chocolates in Phoenixville and will be featuring their products at the tasting event as well as in the store.

Towne Book Center Wine Bar and Café is located in the Providence Town Center shopping plaza at 220 Plaza Drive, #B-3, Collegeville, PA 19426, adjacent to Eastern Mountain Sports.
