Kick off Memorial Day weekend at Montgomery County’s Green Lane Park with the season’s first free outdoor concert featuring the Red Hill Band on Saturday, May 27, 2017 from 7:00 to 8:30 PM. Bring a blanket or chair!
The Red Hill band, organized in 1900 with only 22 members, is among the oldest active concert bands in the area. The turn of the century band grew in popularity over the first few decades playing music written by the American King of Marches, John Phillip Sousa. Over one hundred years later, the band continues its legacy playing marches, big band music, show tunes and has an active Jazz Band. The Red Hill Band, named after the Montgomery County town it calls home, consists of 55 musicians ages 15 to 85. The Band Director, Vincent P. Bercher, has been with the Band since 1974.
The Green Lane Park Amphitheater is located at 2298 Green Lane Road near the intersection of Green Lane Road and Hill Road, just off Route 29, in Green Lane, Pennsylvania.
Green Lane Park is operated by Montgomery County under the direction of the Parks, Trails, and Historic Sites Division. For more information, please call 215-234-4528, or visit: www.montcopa.org/greenlanepark.
