In 1985, a man by the name of Dr. Gordy Klatt walked and ran around a track in Washington for an entire day & night, all to help raise funds for the fight against cancer. This doctors show of dedication raised $27,000 in donations for a health concern that was overwhelming our nation. Now, more than 25 years later, this one time run has grown into a phenomenon that is now recognized worldwide as the Relay for Life. This event has raised billions for the American Cancer Society since it’s unlikely start, providing all who have been affected by cancer the chance to stand up and fight back.
Teams are now forming for this local fundraiser that will be held on May 18th, 10am at Sutcliffe Park in Conshohocken. The special event encourages survivors, supporters and those still battling cancer to participate in a lap that will help raise awareness, funds and camaraderie throughout our community…and beyond! There will be games, music and live entertainment to help keep participants active during this 12 hour event. Some teams will even be holding fundraisers at their camp site during the event, and Relay for Life also has other ceremonies planned for the day as well.
Last but not least, the Double Tree Suites in Plymouth Meeting will be hosting a social gathering called, “The Fling Before the Big Thing”. This Dr. Seuss themed get together is open for anyone to join and will include a DJ, Raffle, 50/50, drinks, food and more! All proceeds from this creatively fun event will go 
directly towards the American Cancer Society. It’s yet another easy way that you can help make a difference in the lives of others. Check below for additional info and details on both events.
