Need to brush up on your American History? Do you usually find learning history boring? Well, this summer enjoy The Complete History of America (Abridged) during a free outdoor theater experience and have a few laughs too.
As the title suggests, this is a comedic play that spans 600 years of history in America during its 90 minute run. The three person team entertains with vaudeville-like sketches, puns, parodies and attempts at “political correctness.” You’ll hear about the discovery of America, our many wars, the evolution of TV and entertainment, and cultural topics like road-rage, gas lines, civil rights, racism and homophobia.
For the past 13 years, Commonwealth Classic Theatre Company has been presenting free Theater in the Parks programs throughout the area. Many of their productions are classic works, with a large repertoire of Shakespearean plays. However, they also perform contemporary pieces as evidenced by this year’s choice. Three performances will be held in Montgomery County venues with many others in nearby Chester County parks.
