With award winning dancers, a state-of-the-art studio, and quality dance training led by an outstanding faculty, Edge Dance Company in Jenkintown has made a name for themselves as a leader in the Montgomery County dance community, even recently taking home the Happening List Win for favorite Dance Studio. A talented team of over a dozen professionally trained instructors provide Edge dancers with high standards of technique, style, creativity and performance. Taking training a step further, Edge Dance Company immerses dancers in the culture of each style of dance through dance performances and conventions, in order to truly instill a love of dance.

With a studio like Edge Dance in our own backyard, local dancers do not need to travel to Philadelphia and New York City to receive professional dance instruction. To celebrate the talent in our own back yard, we’re turning the spotlight on the instructors that lead Edge Dance Company’s award-winning programs and choreography.

We recently shared the stories of Alex Miller and Alyson Pray; next up- meet Lindsey Rhoads:

In her 25 years of dance, Lindsey has grown into the seasoned teacher choreographer and performer she is today. Her expertise in jazz and contemporary has taken her all over the U.S., landing her in two Off-Broadway shows, as well as a season on FOX Television.

Since she started teaching and choreographing, her works have won numerous high score, overall, and choreography awards. One of her greatest accomplishments was being awarded the “FDC People’s Choice” award in 2009. Many of her students have gone on to work professionally. Just recently, two of her students were cast in Broadway shows as the lead in “Billy Elliot the Musical” and a role in “A Christmas Story”, and one of her students was awarded the prestigious “Dancer of The Year” at Star Dance Alliance’s World Dance Championships.

On her own accomplishments, Lindsey attended the Southern New Jersey Academy of the Performing Arts, as well as the University of the Arts to further her dance education. She was chosen to be a dancer for the recording artist Ashanti as well as a dancer for Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines. She has worked as an assistant to choreographer Kacy Combs on the “WILD” dance convention, and worked with choreographers such as Mia Michaels, Brian Friedman, and Gus Giordano. Lindsey has danced for both the NBA and the AFL as part of the Philadelphia 76ers Dream Team, and the Philadelphia Soul Soulmates. She teaches master classes and choreographs for multiple studios in the Pennsylvania and New Jersey area, as well as judging for numerous talent competitions throughout the US. She hopes to continue to influence the young dancers of today and use her knowledge to help shape the future for those too, which dream to dance.
