St. Eleanor Parish will be hosting a Clothing Drive to benefit those in Bucks, Chester, Delaware, Montgomery, and Philadelphia counties who are most in need.  The drive, which is a partnership among St. Eleanor Parish Youth Ministry, the St. Vincent DePaul Society, and GreenDrop, will take place on the first weekend of November.

“By co-hosting this drive, we hope that the less fortunate of our community will be able to benefit greatly from the generosity of those in the Collegeville area,” said Alex Price, Youth Minister at St. Eleanor Parish.  “Fifty young people will be volunteering their time on that weekend to help collect and organize the clothes, and we hope that this service opportunity will both teach them the importance of service and to be grateful for all they have been blessed to receive,” he said.

The goal of the St. Vincent DePaul Society is to help our neighbors with the most basic necessities: food, shelter, clothing, transportation and emotional comfort. There are heartbreaking circumstances right here in our own community; but practical, compassionate person-to-person caring can make a world of difference.

“It seems, more than ever, more people of our community are in need,” said Matt Kirsch, Youth Minister at St. Eleanor Parish.  “By donating clothes and other gently used household items to the St. Vincent DePaul Society, members of the greater Collegeville community can make a big difference in the lives of their neighbors in need.”

“Clothing donations can have significant positive impacts on families who are struggling to make ends meet,” said Joe Sullivan, President of the St. Eleanor Parish St. Vincent DePaul Conference.  “Clothing donations can enable a student to excel at school among his or her peers. Clothes donations can keep families warm when the weather turns colder,” he said.

Donations can be dropped off on Saturday, November 4th from 10:00 AM – 5:00 PM, and on Sunday, November 5th from 8:00 AM – 1:00 PM.  The collection truck will be located in the back parking lot of St. Eleanor Church located at 647 Locust Street in Collegeville, PA.  Young people from the St. Eleanor Parish Youth Ministry program will be present to help accept the donations and to load the items into the collection truck.   By making a tax‐deductible clothing donation to the St. Vincent DePaul Society, you are helping to make a difference in your community.  Tax receipts will be provided by the teen volunteers at the Clothing Drive.
