On Thursday, Dec. 7, 2017 at 10 a.m., Montgomery County commissioners and state and local officials will gather to break ground on the third phase of the Lafayette Street Extension Project.

The Lafayette Street Extension Project is considered the largest local infrastructure project in the Commonwealth. It will provide improved access to downtown Norristown and Plymouth Township and help to spur economic development in the region. The project is being led by Montgomery County in partnership with PennDOT and the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA). Phase 3 will reconstruct Lafayette Street between Barbadoes Street and Ford Street, widen the street and sidewalk, relocate part of the Schuylkill River Trail, and create a new trail hub in Norristown.
