When florist Domenic Graziano, in the industry over 40 years worked his way up from clerk to owner, he had the opportunity to expand his main location in Southampton and support the local community. He launched the Artisan Marketplace, a shop where all their unique hand-crafted gifts are made in the USA.
Graziano recalls, “It seemed like a good fit because we had customers coming in for gifts. Also there was a need for quality, hand-made type gifts that were one-of- a- kind. ”He also decided that everything would be American-made. When you shop in department stores products are mass produced and often made anywhere but the USA. In May, Artisan Marketplace opened with 25 artisans and has grown to 165. Many came from local arts festivals and exhibits.
They carry jewelry, blown glass, ceramics, clocks, storage containers, paintings, prints and more. Many artists include a biological profile, explanation of the creative process, and one even has a U-tube video demonstrating glass blowing. By the summer they plan to double their space and represent 500 artists. Recently they have added a line of pottery created by adults with special needs who participate in the Center for Creative Works in Wynnewood, PA. Graziano displays information next to these works of art about these exceptional adults and this program which builds confidence and pride.
Everything is coming up roses on November 23rd and 24th because when you spend $50.00 or more, you’ll receive a half a dozen roses free. Soon to be announced between Thanksgiving and Christmas, customers will be able to meet the artists and learn more about their wares.
