Its time to hit the ice! Here are some local spots to enjoy some ice skating fun:

Hatfield Ice

Kids are definitely allowed to play in the Reindeer Games at Hatfield Ice on Sun., Dec. 24, beginning at 7:30 am. Three levels for young players with space limited to 40 players and 4 goalies per level. Cost is $15 if pre-registered by Dec. 23. Check the website for levels, times and registration form.

 

Also, kids can skate with Santa on the 23th from 2:40 to 4:40 pm. Public skating hours will be available throughout the winter break week during three time slots, as well as Sticks and Pucks and public hockey hours.

Wintersport Ice Sports

Daily public skating is on the line up at Wintersport throughout the holiday week. Two slots each afternoon and one evening slot too. General admission cost is $10 which includes skate rental. Sticks and Pucks slots are available as well if you want to practice your puck handling skills.

Oaks Center Ice

With three available rinks there is always something scheduled at Oaks Center Ice. Public skating has three 2-hour slots daily through the holiday week as well as youth public from 11 am to 1 pm and adult public hockey from 1 to 2 pm. Public skating admission is $7 with an additional $3 for skate rental. Hockey fee is $10.

Wissahickon Skating Club

Enjoy public skating daily from 12:30 to 2:30 at a reduced rate of $7 with $3 skate rental during the holiday. Friday night and Sat. afternoon public skates are available as well. This club has a focus on figure skating, so if you want to improve your skills, be sure to check out their lesson schedule – new classes start mid-January.

Green Lane Park

If you want to experience ice skating in the quiet beauty of the great outdoors, head north to Montgomery County’s Green Lane Park and skate on the temporary “pond” located adjacent to the Hill Road Day Use Area just off Hill Rd. You’ll need your own footgear, but the skating is free. The park is open daily until dusk. Call ahead to the park office before heading out to check if weather conditions have remained constant enough to keep the ice frozen.
