On Saturday, May 11th, Ten Thousand Villages King of Prussia will be celebrating World Fair Trade Day. In an effort to encourage customers to buy fairly traded products, Ten Thousand Villages has partnered with the Fair Trade Resource Center for their day of events. For over 60 years, Ten Thousand Villages has led the fair trade movement, rendering it one of the world’s largest fair trade organizations. Selling handcrafted products from artisans in 38 developing countries around the world, Ten Thousand Villages has provided over 120 artisan groups with opportunities to make fair and sustainable wages.
In celebration of its mission, Ten Thousand Villages King of Prussia will be hosting a World Fair Trade Day Party with special activities and sales throughout the day. Customers will have the opportunity to sample fair-trade coffee, chocolate and food, have their photos taken in a photo booth, and learn about how their purchases positively impact artisans around the world. Throughout the day, with the purchase of one piece of jewelry, the second piece will be half off. Also, with every purchase, customers will be entered into a raffle for three different gift baskets. Kids are welcome too! They’ll receive free coloring books, teaching them about fair trade and the importance of it. There will also be a special visit from the Fair Trade Owl.
