Keep your kids summer reading inspired with these free programs sponsored by your Montgomery County Libraries. All programs are a part of the summer reading programs held each year and are free to the public. Here we highlight five, but check your local library for programs offered close to you. 

Horsham Township Library – Taste the Rainbow

Help your kids understand the benefits of healthy eating at this hands-on learning event on Mon. July 25, presented by Doylestown Hospital. Kids will learn the importance of eating a balanced diet and making it simple by filling their plates with all the colors of the rainbow. The free program is for children ages 3-7 and includes interactive games and crafts. No registration is required.

Huntingdon Valley LibraryHarry Potter Party

Celebrate the release of the next installment in the Harry Potter series with an evening of crafts, activities, games. The library program is on Wed. July 27 and is being held in preparation for the July 31 release of the printed version of the stage play, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. The play follows the lives of the series’ well-loved characters 19 years after the last book. The event is free and open to all ages.

Join a mad scientist on Wed. July 27 for this interactive and entertaining show presented by Mad Science of West New Jersey. The program looks at the physics of movement. Kids participate in activities including dancing, a chemically assisted football toss and “space-age” rocket packs. The program is free for ages 6 and up. No registration required.

Lower Providence Community Library Craig Collis: The Magic of Money
50 Parklane Dr., Eagleville, PA 19403 – (610) 666-6640

Join math educator and magician Craig Collis as he introduces concepts of money: saving, spending and sharing in a fun educational program on Thurs. July 28 at 6:30 pm. Craig uses games, music, magic and audience participation to take a fun look at the smart use of money. The free program is for ages 5 and up.

Pottstown Public Library – Library on the Move program – Arboretum Fridays
Althouse Arboretum, 1794 Gilbertsville Rd., Pottstown, PA – (610) 970-6551

The Pottstown Library will be offering free children’s programs under the Althouse Arboretum pavilion Fridays at 10:30 am on July 29 (Water Experiments) and Aug. 5 (A Bear Scavenger Hunt). Each hour-long program will be followed by a short hike in the woods. Families are welcome to bring a lunch and stay longer to explore the grounds. Registration is required.
