More than 40 years after their beginnings in New York’s East Village, influential punk band Television is back.
On Friday, December 29th, Television will play an intimate show at the Ardmore Music Hall, located just 3 miles west of Philadelphia. Lauded Philadelphia guitarist and composer Chris Forsyth will open the show.
2017 marks the 40th anniversary of Television’s debut album, Marquee Moon. Instantly hailed by critics, the album is one of the most striking and original recording debuts in rock. The scissory, cascading guitar lines, the jabbing vocals, and the “psychotic calypso” drumming all demonstrate the silvery clarity of a band determined to revolutionize music. The album strongly influenced the new wave and indie rock movements of the 1980s, and has become a foundational record of alternative rock.
