Act II Playhouse presents A Few of Our Favorite Things, anew show from Philly’s favorite comedy couple, Tony Braithwaite & Jen Childs, on stage in Ambler from Jan. 9-28, 2018.

A glorious grab bag of sketches and songs, A Few of Our Favorite Things isa co-production with Philadelphia’s 1812 ProductionsMary Carpenter is the director, and Owen Robbins joins the duo as pianist and musical director.

Tony Braithwaite is in his sixth season as Artistic Director of Act II Playhouse, having most recently appeared here in Which Reminds Me, Didn’t Your Father Have This Talk With You? and Tomfoolery. Other recent work here includes This Wonderful Life, Electile Dysfunction and Driving Miss Daisy. Tony has worked in and around Philly since 1995 (as an actor, director, writer, teacher and comic) and has also appeared at 1812 Productions, Arden Theatre Company, Philadelphia Theatre Company, The Kimmel Center, Delaware Theatre Company, Hedgerow Theatre, Montgomery Theater, and both the PA and Philadelphia Shakespeare Festivals, among others. Tony is a 13-time Barrymore Award nominee, a 4-time Barrymore M.C., and a 3-time Barrymore winner, including wins for The Big Bang and The Story of My Life (both at Act II). For 23 years, Tony has also served as Director of Dramatics at his beloved alma mater St. Joe’s Prep where he is currently producing their Night of Scenes. Jennifer Childs is the Producing Artistic Director of 1812 Productions, Philadelphia’s All Comedy Theater Company. She was last seen at Act II in I Will Not Go Gently. For 1812, she has created over 20 original works of comedic theater including To the Moon, The Carols, It’s My Party: The Women and Comedy Project and the annual political satire This is the Week That Is.  She is the winner of three Barrymore awards, most recently for Leading Actress in a Musical for I Will Not Go Gently

“Performing with Jen Childs is one of my favorite things, and this brand new show will feature some vintage material we have always loved, plus some original material we have loved creating,” Act II Playhouse Artistic Director Tony Braithwaite said. “And for sure, we can’t wait to premiere a new set featuring our cheesy cruise ship lounge act, ‘TB and Jenny.'”

This is Tony and Jen’s fourth original comedy cabaret; their previous shows were Let’s Pretend We’re Married, Let’s Pretend We’re Famous, and On the Road Again.

Patrons are encouraged to buy tickets to A Few of Our Favorite Things soon, as availability is limited. More than 90% of tickets are already sold for the three-week run thanks to a record number of Act II subscribers. A full schedule of performances is available online.
