Jenkintown’s Bradley Cooper is making Montgomery County proud with his latest nomination for Best Actor in “The Silver Lining’s Playbook”. Cooper, who grew up in Jenkintown and attended Germantown Academy, also worked at the Philadelphia Daily News for a short while. After which he left to pursue his acting career in NY and France before coming back to the United States to rock the movie scene with classics like The Hangover. This happening hometown celebrity is making his latest debut in “Silver Linings”. A movie that was shot at various locations in and around Philadelphia.
Without giving away too much of the actual movie itself, “The Silver Linings Playbook” is basically about a man who has lost everything. His job, wife, and house, along with a mandatory stay at a state institution. His release from incarceration lands him back home in the company of his Philadelphia fantaic parents played by Jacki Weaver and Robert DeNiro. Pat Solatano (Bradley Cooper) begins trying to put the pieces of his life back together, one of the biggest being his wife. However, an unexpected woman comes into Pat’s life, one who suffers from much of the same pain that Pat has gone through. Her appearance in Pat’s life causes relationships to change, some for the better, some for the worse. All in all it was a pretty decent movie, Montco Happening would give it a 7/10. If you’re looking for a hard core football movie guys, this is not your ticket. However, it is a really great story about love and life, with the best part being all of the Philadelphia references and locations that are visible throughout the movie, Go Eagles! We support Bradley Cooper as we know he is a proud native of Montgomery County, our hometown celebrity!
