Annual Backyard Fair Benefitting
The Breathing Room Foundation
On Sunday, September 13th, Friends of The Breathing Room Foundation held their annual Backyard Fair right in the center of Jenkintown. Local families came out to enjoy the day which included carnival games for the children, hotdogs and refreshments, a bake sale, and a castle moon bounce, generously donated by Tonz of Fun.
“It’s great to see families and the community coming out to support our organization,” said Mary Ellen Fitzgerald, Director of The Breathing Room Foundation, whose own family joined in the fun.
Included in the day’s festivities was a performance by Jenkintown Dance Arts, a local dance studio offering a variety of classes for children and adults. Photographer Gary Altoonian generously donated his time and talent to capture the day!
Approximately $1,000.00 was raised to benefit The Breathing Room Foundation, whose programs are for families affected by cancer in Montgomery, Bucks, Philadelphia, Chester, and Delaware counties. To donate or volunteer, go to www.breathingroomfoundation.org. Over $.90 of every $1.00 goes directly to their programs.
The Breathing Room Foundation
The Breathing Room Foundation is best characterized as neighbors helping neighbors impacted by cancer. Established in 1997, the Breathing Room Foundation has grown from supporting seven families the first year to serving 628 new families in 2014. Our mission is to provide care and support to families affected by cancer. We recognize that a cancer diagnosis affects every aspect of a family’s life: emotional, physical, spiritual, and financial. We strive to provide a family with whatever it is that will allow them a bit of “breathing room” from their daily struggle against cancer. It is our hope that this will allow them to concentrate all of their efforts towards regaining their physical health.
