Tis’ the season for haunted houses, hot cider, pumpkin carving, trick or treating, costume parades, parties and more! Our 2015′ Guide to a Happening Halloween in Montgomery County is here to let you know where and when these Fall favorites are happening for you and your family. Keep checking in with Montco Happening as we will be updating the Guide with more local events as we inch closer to October 31st. Wishing everyone in Montco a safe and spooky Halloween this year! If you would like to add an event to our ghastly guide, please feel free to send an email with event details to, info@montcohappening.com.

This years Guide to a Happening Halloween is presented by Pennsylvania Traditions. The unique shop located in the heart of Skippack offers a wide array of home decor, vintage gifts, hand crafted items, furniture, and art from dozens of local and nationally known artists and craftspeople. With Halloween just around the corner, the historic store front is now filled with an amazing array of Halloween novelties perfect for October. It’s the ideal place to stop for Halloween themed crafts that are hand crafted and designed by local artists from our local area. This is definitely not the place where you’ll find typical, “run of the mill” Halloween decorations, and that’s exactly what we love most about them! What you will find is a beautifully designed space full of intricate gifts, a personal shopping experience, and the chance to purchase hand crafted items while supporting the very artisans who created them! When it comes to quality and creativity, there’s no better place to shop for Halloween gifts and home decor than at Pennsylvania Traditions.

Located in downtown Skippack, Pennsylvania, Pennsylvania Traditions offers a mix of custom made items that includes: redware, tinware, baskets, pottery, quilts, textiles, folk art, carvings, decorative tiles, reproduction furniture, personal care items and framed art, just to name a few! Even with such an eclectic array of items to choose from you will find the store to be impeccably designed and decorated. Most impressive of all, and a reason why owner Susan Broomall has been so supported over the years is that more than 70% of her inventory comes directly from artists, many of whom are located in Pennsylvania. Susan and her staff have an immense love and respect for the artists who help capture and preserve our regions historic memories, art forms, and traditions.

The crafts on display at Pennsylvania Traditions are a genuine reflection of the area that we call home and each piece was created out of the love for our shared heritage and culture. This love is exactly why Susan and her team of Pennsylvania craft enthusiasts, artists, and decorators have hand picked them for display including everyday objects such as cards, candles, table linens, rugs, hand blown glass, seasonal decorations and so much more. Their Halloween offerings are equally as impressive and ready for you to take home this season!

Howl-O-Ween Pet Parade

how

Bring your pet ready to strut in true Halloween fashion to support a great local charity, Sam’s Hope. The Erdenheim Civic Association was able to team up with local event planning company Seedling & Sage to bring our community members a pet friendly, family event that will be fun for all ages. The parade will be located at Cisco Park, more information located below.

Last year more than 50 of Springfield Township’s most dapper dogs and their doting two-legged companions spent a sunny, crisp fall day showing off their Howl-O-Ween costumes and helping raise money to keep their less fortunate furry friends in their loving homes.

You and your dog can help make the 2nd Howl-O-Ween Pet Parade even better. Get dressed up, catch up with old doggie friends and meet new ones, and raise even more money for Sam’s Hope, which is based right here in Wyndmoor.

With the funds raised at last year’s event, Sam’s Hope was able to provide emergency veterinary services to Lady & Ninja, the two beloved dogs of a local family, who were maliciously poisoned with strychnine (rat poison) in their fenced back yard.

Here’s what you can look forward to:

Schedule:

  • 2:00 PM – Event Begins
  • 2:45 PM – Announcements
  • 3:00 PM – Parade Begins
  • 3:15 PM – Judging Begins
