In less than 48 hours the weekend officially begins!  True it may only appear to be a normal, non-eventful weekend around town, but we’ve looked around and found out that’s not the case.  With sunny weather and highs in the lower 80’s, the weather forecast for this weekend couldn’t be better.  Many might think running to the beach is their best bet, but we encourage you to consider the events below first.

St. Catherine of Sienna Carnival (Horsham): Kick off the beginning of the summer with the perfect seasonal event, a carnival!  Located in Horsham, St. Catherine of Sienna is hosting their annual carnival on its grounds.  Taking place for almost 40 years now, this year promises to be a great time for the whole family, with more rides than ever before.   Stop by for the entertainment on Tuesday through Friday from 6-11PM.  The fun continues Saturday from 1-4PM and 6-11PM.

Lansdale Farmers’ Market: I hadn’t personally been to a farmers’ market until recently, but it turned out to be a great experience.  I’m not sure if it’s psychological, but knowing that the produce you’re eating is fresh and was grown locally seems to make it taste that much better.  From 8AM-1PM on Saturdays the Lansdale Farmers’ Market on Railroad Avenue is open to the public.  Stop by for veggies, wine, local handicrafts, and other tasty foods.  “The Lansdale Farmers’ Market embodies the values of community cooperation, support of local farms, healthful eating, reducing food miles and promotion of local businesses.”

North Wales Wine and Food Festival: Also on Saturday is the North Wales Wine and Food Festival from 2PM until after dusk.  Held at Weingartner Park (Church & 2nd Streets), there is enough going on to keep family members of all ages busy for the entire afternoon & evening.  The event features a wine tasting event from 3-7PM, food, music, entertainment, vendors and more.  As a conclusion to the day’s activities, a family movie-in-the-park will be shown at dusk.

Lansdale “Under the Lights” Car Show: One of my personal favorites…a night time car show!  If you have any appreciation for antique/classic autos, you’ll want to head over to Main Street, Lansdale at 7PM this Saturday night.  This car show will feature American made works of art including street rods, classic trucks, Firebirds, Thunderbirds, Corvettes and Mustangs just to name a few.  To help take you back in time, a DJ will be playing 50’s music throughout the event.

Valley Forge Gun Show: Exercise your Second Amendment right at the Valley Forge Convention Center’s Gun Show this weekend.  From muzzle loaders to machine guns, they have it all.  Advertised as “The Best All-Around Gun Show – in the truest American Tradition,” the public can attend this event Friday 4-8 PM, Saturday 9AM-5PM and Sunday 9AM-4PM.
