On November 13, 2024, Happenings Media hosted a private event to celebrate the honorees of the 2024 Happening Women feature. Hosted by Newtown’s premier art gallery, ArtWRKD, invitees gathered to celebrate the extraordinary achievements and contributions of women who significantly impact our community. With the support of valued local partners, the evening was a tribute to the strength, creativity, and influence of these women, shining a light on their unique stories and inspiring others to follow in their footsteps. In a passing of the torch of sorts, honorees from Happening Women past were invited to bestow the honors upon the 2024 Happening Women. Linda Chadwick, Robin Mancuso, Ashara Shapiro, and Linda Mitchell participated as presenters, as well as Publisher and Owner of Happenings Media, Angela Giovine.
ArtWRKD, founded and operated by 2023 Happening Women Honoree Ashara Shapiro, is a collaborative art space in Newtown for workshops, art education, artist interaction, and a curated artist boutique and exhibitions. ArtWRKD aims to inspire dialogue with artists, leaning into the interactive storytelling experience of art, to create a deeper appreciation for the work when you understand that story.
Attendees were treated to the culinary artistry of the team from I Know a Place, led by the talented Gladys Nyoth. An immersive chef and actress, Nyoth seamlessly blends art, culture, and hospitality to craft meaningful and unforgettable experiences. Recently appointed Executive Chef at Triple Sun Spirits in Newtown, Nyoth brings a unique perspective to her creations. Born in France and rooted in the traditions of the Bassa tribe of Cameroon, her work is a harmonious fusion of visual and edible art. Attendees also enjoyed a signature drink courtesy of Triple Sun Spirits.
