Tis the season for cough syrup, tissues and sneezin! Montgomery County and surrounding areas have started the New Year with a record amount of influenza cases, as if you haven’t noticed! It’s more than likely that you already know someone who has been sidelined with one of the worst strains to hit our region in years. The flu can most certainly occur at any time. However, in recent seasons most infections have occurred in January and February, so getting vaccinated in December or later will still be beneficial. This years flu has targeted young children and seniors the hardest, making it all the more important for those age groups to receive the vaccination. It is recommended that most people 6 months of age and older should get the flu vaccine every year, better safe than sorry right?!
