Can you believe that it’s almost August already?  I know most out there are tired of this heat, but dare I say “enjoy it while it lasts?”  With it already getting darker earlier, we recommend enjoying all the MontCo seasonal outdoor activities while you can.  Before you know it, we will all be stuck inside complaining of the cold while watching the Eagles struggling to earn a playoff spot (hopefully that’s not the case!).  Below are a few of the summer-type activities we scouted out that are happening around Montgomery County this weekend.

Hatboro Classic Car Show: *MontCo Event Of The Weekend* Rev-up your engines for the 19th Annual Moonlight Memories Hatboro Classic Car Show held this Saturday from 5-10PM in down-town Hatboro.  With more than 500 specialty cars and trucks, this is not an event to be missed!  As 75-100,000 people typically attend the affair, we guarantee there will be plenty of action to make it an exciting night.

Garden Cooking – Veggie Sushi (Horsham): Pennypack Farm and Education Center holds a “Veggie Sushi” class from 10-11:30AM this Friday as part of its Farm To Belly program.  “Children and their grownup will prepare their favorite garden goodies into delicious meals while learning botany, proportions, and measurements. Fresh produce from the farm will be used to create dishes that make a great summer lunch.”  The Veggie Sushi class will be held at Resurrection Lutheran Church located at 620 Welsh Road in Horsham.

Teleford Farmer’s Market: The local produce is at its prime this time of year, eat fresh!  For a great variety of MontCo vegetables and fruit, beef, local wine, locally roasted coffee beans, baked goods, and crafts, visit Teleford’s Indian Valley Farmer’s Market this Saturday from 8:30AM-12:30PM.  This event is held at the Marketplace in Telford Station located at Main Street and Penn Avenue every Saturday through October 15th.

Uptown String Band @ Elmwood Park (Norristown): At 7PM this Sunday the Norristown Summer Concert Series presents the Uptown String Band at the Elmwood Park Bandstand.  The Uptown String Band is a non-profit organization based in Hulmeville, PA.  This band is no small act, as they perform internationally and have won numerous awards.

Narberth Greens Vegetable and Flower Exchange: What a great idea for a community event: A place where local residents bring their own home grown vegetables, flowers, fruits and herbs to trade.  If you’re like me, you might not be a “green thumb” and your garden could use a little work.  The Narberth Greens Vegetable and Flower Exchange, located at 80 Windsor Avenue outside of the Narberth Library, is the perfect place to learn growing tips from fellow neighbors.  Come out at 10AM on any Saturday through the end of September to chat with local gardeners over tea while looking over the fresh local produce!
