Labor Day Cookout
The Ambler YMCA is hosting a fun family event on Labor Day, September 5, 2011. The YMCA will be having a little barbeque for the Ambler community. There will be no shortage of Hot Dogs and juice for all. To make it even better, you can taste some of the best homemade dishes from all over Montgomery County, PA as families are asked to bring a dish to share. So if you’re looking for a great family event right in our own backyard, the Labor Day Cookout at the Ambler YMCA is the place to be. Don’t be late as the fun begins at 1:30 and goes until all the food is gone!
Labor Day Tubing Extravaganza!
Just outside of County limits sits one of the most notorious rivers in all of America, the Delaware River. This Labor Day you and your friends or family can celebrate Labor Day on the River! This Labor Day you can grab a tube and float down the Delaware River for approximately 3 to 4 hours. This time of year the river is calm and relaxing in most areas, but don’t fear, there are fun rapids that all can enjoy! If you’re looking for a more active event this Labor Day holiday you should consider the Labor Day Tubing Extravaganza on the Delaware River.
Tri-State Labor Day Parade and Family Festival
If you want to venture even further away from Montgomery County, PA, while still staying in state, you should consider the Tri-State Labor Day Parade and Family Festival. The 24th Annual Tri-State Labor Day Parade will take place on Labor Day, Monday September 5, 2011. Unions and allied organizations will begin to march down Columbus Blvd from Washington Avenue to Penn’s Landing at 10AM. The Family Festival at Penn’s Landing includes music, food, kids activities and more. Members of the public may watch the parade and join the Family Festival from 11AM to 3 PM at Penn’s Landing. The parade is free but there is a cost for admission to the Family Festival.
Pennsylvania Renaissance Faire
Anyone looking for an amazing Faire to attend this Labor Day weekend should consider heading to the Pennsylvania Renaissance Faire! Almost everyone has attended the Renaissance Faire as kids. I remember going in Middle School, eating HUGE turkey legs, getting lost in the corn maze and just having a grand ole time. Why not take your kids to the Pennsylvania Renaissance Faire this Labor Day so that they can share the same memories that we shared as kids. There’s going to be jousting, great food, music, and much more. Spend a day seeing how we used to live in the not so distant past. We promise you will thoroughly enjoy yourselves.
Fireworks and Fountains
Longwood Gardens is a beautiful year-round destination located nearby in Chester County. Starting at 8:15PM on Saturday September 3rd, Longwood Gardens will feature the spectacular Fireworks and Fountains show. To add to the experience, the show is set to the music of the Summer Pops featuring Leroy Anderson. Anderson’s works include American classics such as Blue Tango, The Syncopated Clock, Promenade, Sleigh Ride and Home Stretch.
