A vibrant series of three special events at Rydal Park continuing care retirement community called “Celebrate Herstory” will help to celebrate Women’s History Month. The annual month-long March event is designed to help recognize and honor the contribution of women to events in history and contemporary society. Each event is free and open to the public by reserving at 215-376-6292 (space is limited). All events will take place at 2pm, with the option of a guided Rydal Park tour one hour prior to performance, at 1pm. Complimentary valet parking is available, and wine and light refreshments will follow each program.
• Wednesday, March 19: Emily Asher’s Garden Party
Inspired by the legendary, soulful sounds of such artists as Louis Armstrong, Hoagy Carmichael and Duke Ellington, celebrated trombonist Emily Asher and her jazz ensemble, Garden Party, have wowed audiences from coast to coast. A regular in the swanky jazz clubs of New York City as well as posh clubs and dance halls across the country, Emily brings her immense talent to Rydal Park for a performance that you will not want to miss.
• Wednesday, March 26: Dr. Yvonne Kaye
With mentors ranging from Viktor Frankl to Dr. Seuss to Dame Cicely Saunders, celebrated humorist, radio host and motivational speaker Dr. Yvonne Kaye has become a walking, talking, living, breathing bundle of energy who firmly believes laughter is the best medicine. A resident of Montgomeryville, Yvonne brings her life experiences and adventures to Rydal Park, where she will encourage women (and men) to pursue their dreams at every age, without forgetting to live life to the fullest.
• Saturday, March 29: Villanova Voices
Shortly after Villanova University became coeducational in 1960, the Women’s Glee Club was founded by 20 ambitious young women. Now known as Villanova Voices, the group has more than 50 members and spreads its a cappella message of musical happiness and harmonies throughout the Delaware Valley at various functions each year. Though these ladies have diverse backgrounds and fields of study, they will bring their dynamic spirit to Rydal Park to share their love of music.
