Funds Raised for Local Families
Not everyone was in Philadelphia on September 27, 2015 for the Papal Visit. Over 220 participants arrived at Wilson Farm Park in Chesterbrook for the Annual Orange Run. This is the fourth year IFM Efector, Inc. has held the 5K race and two mile walk in memory of one of their colleagues, who lost her battle with cancer. Over $10,000.00 was raised this year, all of which was donated to The Breathing Room Foundation, who provided care and support for their co-worker during her illness.
“We are so thankful to the team at IFM Efector for donating their time and efforts to put on this event. The funds raised allow us to provide services such as filling an oil tank in the winter months, purchasing medical needs not covered by insurance, and paying for transportation to and from treatments for countless families in the region,” stated Mary Ellen Fitzgerald, Executive Director of The Breathing Room Foundation.
Coming in neck-and-neck to take first and second in this year’s race were brothers, Kyle and Owen Dawson. Only .01 of a second separated them! Congratulations to Kyle, Owen, and all the race participants for a job well done!
The Breathing Room Foundation
The Breathing Room Foundation is best characterized as neighbors helping neighbors impacted by cancer. Established in 1997, the Breathing Room Foundation has grown from supporting seven families the first year to serving 628 new families in 2014. Our mission is to provide care and support to families affected by cancer. We recognize that a cancer diagnosis affects every aspect of a family’s life: emotional, physical, spiritual, and financial. We strive to provide a family with whatever it is that will allow them a bit of “breathing room” from their daily struggle against cancer. It is our hope that this will allow them to concentrate all of their efforts towards regaining their physical health. Click here for more info on The Breathing Room Foundation.
