The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee at Arcadia University Spruance Little Theatre

When: Now through Sunday, October 20; Thursday and Friday at 8 p.m.; Saturday at 2 p.m. and 8 p.m.; Sunday at 2 p.m.
Where: 450 S. Easton Road, Glenside

It’s the final weekend of this fun musical! Six awkward tweens vie for the coveted spelling championship in this fast-paced, Tony Award-winning comedy. As they fight to stay in the contest, the students – each with their own quirky and engaging personality – share hilarious and touching tales from their home lives, ultimately learning that winning isn’t everything. Witches & Wizards Festival

When: Friday, October 18 and Saturday, October 19
Where: Germantown Ave., Chestnut Hill

Formerly known as the Harry Potter Festival, this event will include a ticketed pub crawl on Friday night, extended hours at local businesses with sales/specials. Saturday’s events include costumed actors on the streets, a wizarding run, a quidditch tournament,  an haunted escape room, fire breathing, face painting, a dark magic scavenger hunt and more Halloween delights on the Hill.  Check the website for complete programming and ticket information.

Jay Jay’s Birthday Party at John James Audubon Center at Mill Grove

When: Saturday, October 19 from 10 a.m. to noon
Where: 1201 Pawlings Road, Audubon

Join the John James Audubon Center in welcoming their newest addition to the family, Jay Jay! Jay Jay is their Blue Jay mascot and will be out and about on weekends and special events at the center. They will be celebrating his birthday with a Mascot Party on Saturday! All of Jay Jay’s new friends will be there, including Monty the Fox (from the Valley Forge Tourism and Convention Board), Bubby the Bison (from Elmwood Park Zoo), and Lego Man (from Legoland). There will be fun activities for everyone who comes.

Skippack Village Children’s Halloween Parade

When: Saturday, October 19 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. (Rain date is October 27)
Where: Parade begins at Trinity Christian UCC, 2009 Church Road, Skippack

The parade begins at Trinity Christian UCC in Skippack with beverages and kid-friendly snacks.  Follow the parade route through the village and enjoy treats along the way from participating Skippack merchants.  The parade ends at Floral & Hardy with even more candy! Upper Gwynedd Fall Fest

When: Saturday, October 19 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Where: Parkside Place Park Complex, 1 Parkside Place, North Wales

Enjoy various activities such as children’s crafts, petting zoo, autumn entertainment, sensational games, food and refreshments. Free hay rides will be given throughout the day for anyone who wishes to ride! Enjoy the car show as well as various service vehicles!

Phoenixville Halloween Carnival

When: Saturday, October 19 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.
Where: Phoenixville Civic Center, 123 Main Street, Phoenixville

This free event is hosted by Borough of Phoenixville and Kiwanis Club of Phoenixville. There will be fun games, a free kid’s silent auction, entertainment, giveaways and Halloween treats! Best suited for kids under 12.

All Hallow’s Eve Fall Festival

When: Saturday, October 19 from 1 p.m. to  4 p.m.
Where: Pennypacker Mills, 5 Haldeman Rd., Schwenksville

Have some old-fashioned fun painting pumpkins, making kid-themed fall crafts, taking hayrides, playing bean bag toss, cracking corn, pressing apples to make cider, and jumping in the hay!

Skippack International Car Show

When: Sunday, October 20 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Where: Skippack Village, Skippack Pike

Enjoy an afternoon of cars, food and beer, vendors, prizes and more!
