The following story is one of true love. It’s the story of how one of the Montco Happening’s Co-Founders met his wife. Ryan and Shannon recently got married on the beach in North Carolina. They enjoyed an amazing honeymoon in Riviera Maya, Mexico and now they are expecting their first child. What a whirlwind these past few months have been for the couple. Recently Montco Happening’s Andrew Chupalio sat down with Ryan for an interview.
MH: When did you and Shannon meet?
Ryan: We first met on April 3, 2008 at PJ Whelihan’s in Blue Bell. We had been talking for a few months online before we actually got together in person. Shannon and I actually met on Match.com!
MH: Wow, Match.com huh? They say “1 in 5 relationships start online” these days. What was that like?
Ryan: It was actually a great experience. I never thought I’d do the online dating thing, but I was working a lot and didn’t really want to meet someone at a bar. I figured I’d give Match.com a try.
MH: And now you’re married, right?
Ryan: Yep. I proposed the day before our 2 year anniversary. We then spent the weekend at a hotel in Philadelphia. Shannon planned the entire wedding. She basically did everything from coming up with our wedding theme, finding the beach house that we stayed at, and making ALL of the decorations. She’s very crafty! 😉
It was a beautiful wedding. We had all of our friends and family meet us in Ocean Isle Beach, North Carolina. We rented an event house right on the beach, which slept 24 people. The wedding party and our closest friends stayed in the house with us. People came down for 2-4 days, so we all made a long weekend out of it. Shannon is from Columbia, Missouri originally and I’m from Warrington, PA, so everyone had to travel. It was nice that we got to spend so much time with everyone. We got married on the beach and came back to the house for dinner and a party.
MH: Yes, I remember. It was a blast! And now after such a big year, I hear you have more news to share?
Ryan: Ha! yes… Shannon is pregnant. We are expecting our first child in June 2012. We’re both really excited.
MH: That’s really great. Congratulations! Thanks for sharing your love story with us. Good luck with the new baby!
