Julianne Siller

This year’s event will celebrate the life of 17 year-old Julianne Siller. Julianne was stabbed multiple times by her boyfriend of six months, after attempting to break up with him this past May. After killing her, he hid her body in the woods on the Skippack Trail.

The Run/Walk will promote awareness about teen dating violence. The Women’s Center is using the material from the curriculum, “Break the Cycle”, thanks to the generosity of The Verizon Foundation. “Break the Cycle” is a comprehensive prevention and intervention curriculum for high school students with interactive learning that helps students and families identify unhealthy dating practices, understand safety planning, legal rights and remedies available to teens.

Consider making a donation to this dedicated organization if you are not able to attend the Walk/Run. Since 1976, The Women’s Center of Montgomery County has provided help to victims of domestic violence and their families. Their Domestic Violence Program provides a number of programs and services to eliminate domestic violence, including a 24-hour hotline, individual and group counseling, and legal/medical advocacy.wcmc logo 2

In 2012-2013 The Women’s Center provided free services to over 4,000 victims of domestic violence. They are able to continue this work because of the strong foundation of volunteer support through events like the 5KRun/3KWalk. SEE YOU THERE!
