The first weekend of October is upon us, and there’s a ton of seasonal events happening in MontCo. Enjoy festivals, Oktoberfest, Halloween fun, scarecrows and more! Skippack Days Craft Festival
When: Friday, October 4 from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday, October 5 and 6 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Where: Skippack Village
Skippack Days is a perennial tradition stretching back over four decades. Skippack Pike – the main thoroughfare – is lined with the regions top-quality artisans and crafters. Everything from the finest woodwork to expertly crafted pottery, silk prints, handmade jewelry, garments, and toys are all for sale. Many shops will also offer specials for the weekend. In addition to the plethora of cafes and bistros in the downtown area, there are also plenty of food vendors as well as merchants selling specialty foods. Admission is free and parking is in town.
Eerie Limited
When: Friday, October 4 at 6:30 pm
Where: Colebrookdale Railroad, 64 S Washington St, Boyertown
Two-hour trip filled with stories that highlight Boyertown as “one of the most haunted small towns in America.” This evening train ride explores local hauntings, historic incidents, and amusing happenings along the rail line.
3rd Annual Night of Lights in Chestnut Hill
When: Friday, October 4 from 7 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.
Where: Germantown Avenue between Bethlehem Pike and Southampton Avenue, Chestnut Hill
Night of Lights projects historical images and films from the Chestnut Hill Conservancy’s archives through storefront windows and onto exterior walls. Neighboring buildings will be illuminated with colored lights as well. Night of Lights coincides with Chestnut Hill First Fridays, where shops operate on extended hours.
Get Fit with Pink Yoga at Bloomingdale’s
When: Saturday, October 5 at 9 a.m. (doors open at 8:30 a.m.)
Where: Bloomingdale’s in Willow Grove Park Mall, 2400 West Moreland Road, Willow Grove
Enjoy a morning yoga class before the store opens that will benefit Bloomingdale’s Pink Breast Cancer Awareness initiative! Your $10 reservation fee will benefit The Carey Foundation and the Marisa Acocella Foundation. Plus, you’ll take home a Bloomingdale’s yoga mat and gift bag (1 per customer, while supplies last) just for attending. Reserve your spot here.
Fall Harvest Days at Merrymead Farm
When: Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sundays from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m.
Where: 222 S. Valley Forge Road, Lansdale
Merrymead is a working dairy farm with plenty of fall activities. Visit the apple shed for seasonal produce, cider and decorations. Take a hayride around the farm. Little ones will enjoy the corn stalk tunnel, face painting, games and inflatables. The five-acre maze offers daytime or moonlight fun, so you’ll want to bring a flashlight if you’re visiting after dark. Visit the site for details, weekday hours and pricing.
Morris Arboretum Scarecrow Walk
When: October 5 – October 31, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Where: Morris Arboretum, 100 E. Northwestern Ave., Philadelphia
Take a stroll along Oak Allée at the Morris Arboretum any day October 5 through Halloween to enjoy the more than 30 scarecrows lining the path. The display is part of the annual design contest with this year’s theme of “Famous Musicians.” Come vote for your favorite. The Scarecrow Walk is free along with your paid admission to the arboretum.
Oktoberfest in Ambler
When: Saturday, October 5 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Where: Ambler Main Street
Celebrate Oktoberfest in Ambler with live music, tons of vendors and artists, loads of food trucks, Kids zone, specials from businesses and restaurants, and OF course a beer garden!
King of Prussia Beerfest Royale
When: Saturday, October 5 from 4:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
Where: King of Prussia Mall, 160 N. Gulph Road, King of Prussia
The biggest party in the ‘burbs features 120+ beers to sample from over 60 brewers, inspired dishes from KOP’s favorite restaurants, live music from Swift Technique, giant yard games and so much more! Tickets are $50 in advance, $60 at the door or $70 for VIP tickets that include early entry, limited-edition brews and a collector’s glass. The event takes place under grand tents in the KOP Mall parking lot, across from Crowne Plaza.
