We were quite excited when we learned that Souderton township announced they were creating a 75 by 120 foot outdoor ice skating rink right at the Souderton Community Park. The main reason behind the rink was to celebrate this year’s 125th anniversary of the borough. However, there is a chance this will become an annual tradition considering the borough purchased the rink setup.
Montgomerynews.com reports “The plan is to open the rink to the public for free daily ice skating for five weeks, culminating with a special Souderton 125th Anniversary skating event, scheduled for Feb. 4.” If weather permits, the rink may be open until February 13th. Below is the current tentative ice skating schedule:
- Free Skate (includes ice hockey) = afternoons & evenings Monday thru Thursday, Friday afternoons, and 6-9PM on Sundays
- Family Skate (no ice hockey) = 6-9PM on Fridays & Saturdays, Sunday afternoon until 5PM.
