“The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched. They must be felt with the heart.” – Helen Keller.  Over the next few months we will be sharing local love stories of area residents.  Below is Brittany and Richard of Montgomery County’s own love story, brought to you by The Inn at Bowman’s Hill.

It all started 16 years ago in a college class I was taking during my junior year at the University of Delaware (Go Blue Hens!).  As there were only about 20 people in the class, I became acquainted with most of the other students, including a pretty young lady named Brittany (whom I would one day marry).  I wouldn’t say it was love at first site, but overtime we became friends and enjoyed talking to each other after class.  This carried on for a few months.

It was a Friday night in late fall when our “relationship” really began.  A friend of mine took me to an apartment party he had heard about.  Coincidentally, Brittany happened to be at the same party.  I remember talking to her a bit.  At some point though the alcohol really got to me and I don’t remember much past that.

Too my surprise the next morning, I found myself awakening on a strange couch in an apartment I’d never seen before.  Wow where was I?!  Next, Brittany came out of a bedroom and explained I had been too intoxicated to walk home and since her apartment was right next to the prior night’s party, she helped me to her couch so I could sleep it off.  Hung-over and embarrassed, I thanked her and we went out for coffee and breakfast.  It was there were we really hit it off and from that day on I knew she was the one for me.

Since we were both originally from the North East Philadelphia suburbs, we decided to move back to the area after college and settled in the Lansdale area.  We ended up getting married and live happily together today.  Our passions include watching funny movies and spending time with our pet dog and iguana.  Today, I take it easy with the drinking when I go to social events, much to the delight of my wife : )
