As a child, I have distinct memories of visiting my grandmother’s house every year for Christmas.  At these annual gatherings, I clearly remember the unique looking Christmas figurines that seemed to mesmerize me.  It wasn’t until quite some time later that I learned these miniature carolers were far from ordinary, they were handmade Byers’ Choice collectibles.  Furthermore, these world-renowned Carolers are made right here on County Line Road in Chalfont, PA.

This business, which now employees a team of 180 artists here in PA, was originally started by Joyce Byers in the late 1960’s.  Initially created as decorations for her own household from materials on hand, these well-crafted Christmas Carolers’ popularity spread over the years.  Today, the Carolers are sold in thousands of gift stores around the world.  Much of Byers’ Choice success can be attributed to holding true to their values: “producing a quality product, at an affordable price, and dedicated to serving its customers and the community in the spirit of Christmas.”  In fact, the company donates over 20% of its annual profits to charity every year.

The company headquarters, located at 4355 County Line Road in Chalfont, features a Christmas museum, observation deck to watch the artists, and picturesque  gardens.  The award-winning grounds at Byers’ Choice are “beautifully manicured gardens abound with colorful annuals, perennials and fragrant blooms. The landscape teems with rose bushes, shrubs and a variety of mature trees creating a lovely backdrop for a leisurely stroll or formal wedding pictures.”

Also, Byers’ Choice hosts a number of worthwhile events outside of the Christmas season.  Stop by from 6:30-8PM on Friday, August 12th and Friday, August 19th for family concerts in the gardens.  Then at noon on Sunday, October 23rd the Harvest Tea and Fashion Show will be presented by Skippack’s Wooden Duck.  We strongly suggest visiting in the summer/fall, as it’s a great time to take advantage of the outdoor scenery and events as well taking a tour of the museum.  Please see the Byers’ Choice website for more information on visiting their property.
